Ample parking. Great selection of plants. Well worth a visit.

What is happening with Sandyholm. In the past few years, a once marvellous experience has now descended into chaos, poor choice, overpriced and a restaurant that is hopeless. There is not a long time left before this Dobbies will shut up shop for good. The local competition is beating you hands down. A complete lack of leadership, motivation, control leading to most people we know, avoiding it now, like the plague.

Visited the restaurant, it was awful. Food took over 30 mins to prepare which was frustrating as it wasn't busy. Baked potato was cold, brought out wrong order for my mum and my husbands sandwich was stale. Not worth the money. Used to be a lovely cafe, not anymore. Won't be back.

Went at lunchtime today. The spicy vegetable soup was amazing. I was impressed! Love their coffee too. All staff really friendly and helpful. They're short staffed due to Covid but that's life just now.

Just before year changes, I would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Dobbies, Sandyholm. I go there frequently and always have a positive experience. In particular, a staff member called Walter, has given me lots of plant buying advice. He is patient and kind and always appears to be happy to help with any customer. It is so lovely to have staff members on hand and visible. So many shops lack this personable touch. The people who work in this shop are a big reason as to why my friends and I shop there. Well done Sandyholm for managing to keep good people working in your shop.

Had afternoon tea today. Have to say it was not the same as picture in advert. Sandwiches were tasty but looked as if they had been made with odd pieces of bread. The scones were rather dry and crumbly. Cakes were OK but nothing special. Perhaps the store was short staffed?

I've always found garden centres over priced and Dobbies is no different. Went to the restaurant, I was nearly £20 for two cans and two cheese and ham panini's. The chips were cooked in dirty oil and the service was disorganised. Staff were nice right enough. Then, for our next £20...a 3 minute visit with Santa. When I booked our slot online it asked for child's age, I selected 0-12 months. The porky wrapped toy we got was for 12+months. What is they point in asking age if it's going to be ignored. To top it off, the elf said to Santa, the little one is too wee, but all mummy what she wants for Christmas and Santa said "let me guess mum, you want a new kitchen..." I know Santa is meant to be 100s of years old, so maybe he doesn't realise that misogyny is something that belongs in the past. The 'grotto' is in the covered outdoor area of the garden centre, so we shouldn't have bothered wearing Christmas outfits as we couldn't take our coats off. This is my baby's first Christmas and I have been welcomed into the corporate greed with open arms, £11.99 for Santa visit and £7 for photo, you would expect a digital copy emailed at least thrown in, but the North pole obviously doesn't have that technology yet...

Visited restaurant: Food was horrible! Had steak pie which was mostly cardboard-like thick pastry. The mash had a hard crust on it! The peas and sprouts were very cold, possibly not long out of the freezer. Saving grace: the latte coffee was good but £3 for their smallest cup!

Went to the restaurant with some family for some breakfast/lunch. Asked for a roll with sausage or sausage sandwich. "We've stopped doing breakfasts" was the reply. I pointed to the sausages sitting literally in front of both of us. "They are for the sausage and mash". Can't I just have those with the bread that's literally there? "No" was the reply. The girl was English with reddish/brown hair and glasses. I told her to leave it and left.At a time when footfall customers are at a premium. I didn't think any business would be in a position to turn away. Terrible and petty customer service
