We visited for the first time yesterday as had heard good reviews for this place. Booked a table for 1 30 but arrived at 1 o'clock so we could sit outside in the sun to have a drink before our meal. We sat 20 minutes before they took our drinks order and at 1.30 we still didn't have our drinks so we went to our table and asked for our drinks to be brought there. The drinks finally arrived at 1.45 and we placed our meal order at the same time.We were still waiting for our food at 2.30 so asked how much longer it would be. Food arrived 5 minutes later and it was piping hot and we all agreed the food was excellent but the service shocking!I think it was the manager who took our payment and when he asked if we had enjoyed our meal we said yes we had but it was a shame about the time we had waited. He replied that they had been caught out by the weather and that he was sorry but it was just circumstances! Not really the response we expected when we had booked our table and not just turned up unexpectedly. An apology explaining the delay or even an offer to get us more drinks while we were waiting for our meal would have been nice but we were just ignored for an hour until our food was finally brought out.The young lady that took our order and brought our drinks and food to the table was very pleasant but let down badly by the rest of her team who need to learn that keeping people waiting an hour and not communicating with them and then brushing off their comments about delays is not the way customers expect to be treated

It's 20 minutes around the Loch. You would need to go around it 5 times to walk off the big portions of food served in the restaurant. Great value. Staff were excellent, too.

Had chicken bacon pie in a cream sauce. Chicken was cubed and quite chewy not many pieces in pie Sauce was very runny.Puff pastry was very dry and crumbled on cutting. Prefer if baked on pie then more flavour. Apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream. Crumble very dry. Would have preferred if portion had been on a plate rather than bowl.

Decent food and the cocktails we had were lovely. Slow service but there was a large party in the restaurant at the same time as us. Very friendly staff.

First course was tasty but cold but everything else was lovely and reasonably priced.Unfortunately we were cold, and had to wear our jackets. We were shocked by the 'manager?' and other staff shouting to diners from across the restaurant. A few steps and seconds would have brought them closer to be able to talk to us quietly and directly

Lovely meal and very pleasant and friendly staff. Clean environment. Good variety menu. A little expensive on some items compared to other places of similar standard but true to say that you only get what you pay for. Beautiful view of the Loch at the window seats during the daytime. Enjoyable evening, I would recommend a visit.

The food and portion sizes were very good. The service was also exceptional. I was going to order French onion soup but the server asked if I was a vegetarian because of my main course choice and when I told her that I was she told me the soup was made with a beef stock. Now that is customer care. We booked a meal for Saturday night and it was so good we booked again for Sunday. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Really nice food at reasonable prices, although portion sizes were maybe a bit small. We sat outside on a really hot day. There were quite a lot of wasps (staff had warned us) that turned up to inspect our food! But actually really didn't bother us after their initial foray. We'll eat here again as its very convenient for New Lanark (and part way between us and our son)
