The Boathouse in Bath and North East Somerset

Cuisine: British

"A waterside country pub on the edge of Bath. Situated on the banks of the river Avon, just outside the city of Bath, with views of the picturesque countryside, the Boathouse is the perfect example of a traditional English country pub. Nine gorgeous hotel rooms, roaring log fires, cosy corners and delicious hot drinks, beers, wines and more."

Nice location by the canal. Good views of the canal and nearby bridge. You can rent canoes from here too. Didn’t eat but the food looked good. There’s quite a lot of seating and plenty of places to sit on the grass if not. Car park was almost full when I visited, however there’s a park and ride almost next door so parking shouldn’t be a problem.

Booked in for an overnight stay to Bath. With the lovely weather, the views of the river & country were stunning. We were booked in by Holly, very friendly & helpful (gave us great directions for a river walk into Bath). We arrived in the afternoon, settled into our lovely room until dinner in the pub downstairs. The vegan burger was very nice with skin on chips. We also had the double bacon cheese burger, very tasty. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding & for the vegan option we went with was deep filled Apple pie with vanilla ice cream. We also mistakenly ordered the vegan salted caramel ice cream on the side which was gorgeous (butterscotch angel delight taste), this was ordered in error & complimented which was fantastic. In the morning we had the cooked breakfast. The full English was really nice, the vegan option was exceptional, easy 8/10. The staff were all very friendly & welcoming. Just a heads up, the hotel & bar are card only.

The place is located in a beautiful scenery and fabulously decorated. It has a rich offer of local beers recognised world-wide. Food is delicious too. The menu seems a bit odd though ranging from pub-specials to fine dining. What I didn't appreciate was not very accommodating staff. We asked if it's possible to sit outside and were told not. We were seated at a small table in a dark corner, so we asked if it's possible to move to a free window-table. We were told it's impossible as the place is fully booked. It turned out the place was not even half-filled with guests which was extremely frustrating. Many free tables everywhere. This made the experience much less enjoyable together with some not very welcoming staff or them making awkward comments. Not sure it I would come back.

Really enjoyable stay, great location. Very interesting (and delicious) breakfast menu. Nicely decorated rooms. Very attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely go back. Only quibble would be that for what we got, I thought the room was a bit overpriced.

Me and my little girl went there and she wasn't so keen, said it was no good for kids, but I guess that's a good thing for some.Nice location and the food was ok...Although oddly there were a lot of staff and none of them seem like they were comfortable in what they were doing.Won't bother again. But it's not bad.

I just wanted to say thank you to our waitress Amy. She was absolutely amazing. Our table of 6 which included 2 little children plus a dog was a handful but Amy was on it!! Friendly, helpful and always with a smile. Don’t let her go!

We have driven past this place on a number of occasions whilst on our travels but never stopped. As we were away for Christmas this time staying in the area, we took the opportunity to drop in for a Christmas Eve Lunch. We were not disappointed at all lovely venue with good views. The food was excellent well prepared and served.I will make reference to the staff that were on that day, given the circumstances they were cheerful, chatty, and helpful when we're asking about places to go. They really helped to make the atmosphere a good one. So, thank you all

Lovely setting, though probably at its best when not raining! Decent pub menu with a couple of unusual items and the food was very tasty. Good service.

We had a lovely three days at The Boathouse. Our room was tastefully decorated in a “Wind In The Willows “ theme and a old map of Bath on the wall. We had a room at the back with a view of trees from our window. There is a park and ride to Bath centre the other side of the car park, so we didn’t use our car for our stay. The restaurant and bar is very nice and we ate there every night the food was tasty. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed talking to Byron about local history and the swans. The breakfast was good with a lovely warm fire. The view on the terrace and garden of the river was wonderful. Definitely recommend this place for a few days.

We had our wedding breakfast in the conservatory which is a great space with access to the large garden. The food was great and plentiful. The pub is so calm and relaxed which suited us. We would like to thank Holly for making us feel so welcome and being so attentive, and for also taking a few pictures for us. Nothing was to much trouble. You really are a credit to the venue. Thank you
