A mixed review and I feel a little bit sad to have to speak negatively, but here we are. Booked as a birthday meal for my boyfriend, we went for the 6 course menu and the food was incredible, chefs outstanding and really knew their stuff and for the most part the service was great. However, after we were served our last course (which included a personalised birthday message for my boyfriend, which was hugely appreciated and unexpected) we were seemingly ignored for the next 20-25 minutes. We were sat at our empty table with empty glasses, and several waiters continued to walk past, some even nodding and smiling at us, but not one came over or served us the rest of our bottle of wine which we could see was sitting on their serving table. It was bizarre, they were serving wine from bottles next to ours to other tables and seeing to other tables, but still no acknowledgement for us. We ended up having to flag down a waiter to get our bill, we explained that we felt we had been ignored and not served the remainder of our wine and their response - ‘we were waiting for you to ask for your bill’. This isn’t Michelin star service, and not what I expect when I’m paying £300+ for a meal. The manager provided a similarly poor response and still didn’t even look at the 1/3 of a bottle of wine we still had left. We were left feeling so frustrated that we paid our bill (with service charge knocked off as a gesture), including the full price for the whole bottle of wine we didn’t even get to drink all of. It was such a shame to end what had been a fantastic evening on such a sour note and it really has tainted our experience - notably the attitude of the waiters when we called them out and their, to be honest, insincere sounding apologies and defensiveness. I’m not sure what was happening towards the end but it unfortunately means we wouldn’t be returning.

The food was fantastic and the service started the exact same way. Unfortunately, once we’d finished eating we suddenly became invisible for 20 minutes and were completely ignored by the waiting staff to the point where the bottle of wine we paid for is still sat 1/3rd full on the table in the middle of the dining area and we’re now home. When we complained we were offered to not pay the service charge and yet we’ve still paid for wine we’ve not been afforded the opportunity to drink.A real shame as the dining experience started so well. The food really was brilliant but the service was anything but Michelin star by the end. Very disappointing and frankly embarrassing for the restaurant. We’ve had better service at a gastropub.

We decided to try this Michelin starred restaurant in Bath on a quick visit. It was outstanding. The tasting menu dishes were well constructed with 8 of the nine wine pairings well matched to the dishes (except for the last one which was simply too acidic for a sweet desert). Service was efficient and pleasant although a bit robotic at times, but it didn’t distract from the quality of the food, or the experience. Notable dishes included the scallops, the ruby beetroot with generous caviar, the excellent Cornish monkfish and the Fallow deer which was perfectly matched with a reduction which complemented the meat well. There were 3 deserts but the best of them was the Islands Chocolate served with the eponymous Manni olive oil which created a balanced, smooth and tremendous desert worth going to the restaurant for alone! Well done to the team for a truly outstanding meal.

Stunning food and service was superb. The staff were extremely helpful with menu choices and made you feel welcome. This is in a class of it's own and the only Michelin star hotel in Bath at the moment.

9 coursesOverall, the starters were interesting. I liked the wasabi and fresh fruit to reduce the fishy smell of scallop. The second course was good. Veal sweetbread was tender but with mint sauce which tasted like toothpaste wasn’t my type. The bread was the best I've had. It was very delicious and surprising. The texture and flavour were perfect. I like the second one. The sauce was warm, rich and creamy and was good with monkfish. And the deer was perfect with the sauce. Desserts were impressive in these nine courses. The first course was very interesting. Each component was okay when I ate separately. But eating together, it was more delicious, with different flavours and elegant. It was my first time eating chocolate with olive oil. I couldn't expect the combination, but it was good! The last course was my favourite. As a fan of Yuzu, the combo with meringue and yuzu was good to pair. The yuzu made meringue was not too sweet, a bit sour balance the sweetness and was more fresh. The bottom taste crunchy and crispy which increased the different texture. It was very clever and delicious dessert.

Went there for our last night in Bath, and had the 9 course tasting menu. The food was properly done, the eel and beetroot with caviar were very interesting. From the desserts, the chocolate with olive oil was our favorite. The only dish I’ll remove is the bread (or make it much smaller), since was too filling and you can’t finish all desserts if you eat the entire bread. Finally, in terms of the service, our main waiter was very young but did an amazing job during our stay. Highly recommend the place.

Lovely meal. We had the 6 course taster with wine pairings.

My husband and I came to Bath for a minimoon and booked to stay at the hotel as we'd read great reviews about the restaurant. We had a wonderful evening- I had the six course vegetarian menu and my husband had the meat. Everything on the plate had a purpose and worked together in a harmony of flavour and texture. The chocolate and olive oil dessert was a definite highlight. The staff were all fantastic and delivered an incredibly smooth service- always there to answer questions and help when needed but giving you space to enjoy your meal together. We felt thoroughly spoilt by the end of the night. Highly recommend going up to the outdoor garden after dinner for a night cap. Thanks for a wonderful night.

Our lunch experience was very exquisite. Arrived 15 minutes early but they had our table ready, so we were welcomed straight away. The waiter was nice, addressed us promptly and checked in on us often. We opted for the 3 course meal lunch, and as a couple we managed to try all items on the menu. The cured trout was really tasty, and beef short ribs very tender and juicy. The sole was soft and light, but less of a highlight. We enjoyed the presentation of the food as well as the introduction of the dished. We also received 3 small complementary side dishes which was a lovely touch. We really enjoyed our lunch, would definitely come back and recommend x

Great cooking - as exactly as you’d expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. We went for the 6 course menu with wine pairing - the monkfish dish and lamb was delicious. The scallop starter with the granita was one of the best scallop starters we’ve had. However the lunch service felt a little rushed, and the wine taster portions could have been slightly more generous but our waiter definitely showed a good knowledge of the wines. Definitely worth a stop.
