Woods Restaurant in Bath and North East Somerset

Warning - I am reviewing Woods before I have been. Reason - I cannot wait to get back there! I know it’s going to be perfect, again. Delicious food, again. Great ambience, again. I love this place better than any other restaurant in the UK. My love affair started with Woods when I worked there over 30 years ago running the bar (mad dog incident :)), and it has continued with my infrequent visits over the years. If a friend is visiting Bath, I won’t let them not book Woods! So I know from their feedback that it is still all brilliant, and David and Claude amazing, all these years later. I feel completely comfortable reviewing this brilliant bit of France in Bath even though I have not been for a few years — and I rarely review anything. I’m going back in a few weeks and this will be the highlight of my trip to this fab city.

I had lunch at this brasserie, today. Great quality, great flavour food. A must try: spinach & sweet potato soup 🍲

Went here for my Sister in laws wedding. Food was fabulous, great atmosphere. The owner was charming and very accommodating.

Pleasant, but not as good as we expected, with all its positive reviews. Soup was great, but other courses were bland, and ingredients not totally fresh . Potatoes not a good combination with fish. Pud choice limited. Service ok, not great. Overrated

Enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch at Woods for our No1 Royal Crescent museum guides reunion last week. Staff could not be more accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Meal was tasty and enjoyed by all of us. Novel chocolate purchases at the end were delightful! This place is one of Bath's best and well worth the walk up the town.

A dependable long established restaurant with a tasty Anglo-French menu. Its spacious Georgian dining room is relaxing and welcoming, something actually quite hard to find in Bath. Good French wines. Don't miss the Provençal fish soup.

The best restaurant in Bath in my opinion. We’ve been going for over 20 years now and the food is always wonderful, with super friendly service as well. Can’t recommend it highly enough, amazing place!

We came to Woods for a celebratory graduation dinner. The restaurant knew it was a special day for us, so seated us in a lovely little alcove. The staff were incredibly attentive (without being overly so), and the food was absolutely perfect. My grandma said it was one of the best meals she'd ever had, and at almost 90 she's eaten at a lot of restaurants! It's also extremely fairly priced for what you get. I would 100% recommend this place for any special occasion, or to anyone just looking for a lovely meal out! Thank you, Woods, I'm sure we'll be back soon!

Food and service were absolutely fantastic. We walked in for dinner and they were really accommodating to our 1 year old. Everything we ordered was amazing, from starters to desserts, and came in a beautiful presentation. Loved how friendly the staff were as well. Would definitely come back next time we are in Bath.

We went there Randomly and what we found was more than expected!The service the place, kind of Modern French style cuisine looking dishes that tastes very good & lovey champagne … It’s all you need for lunch or small brunch with friends or family … also a perfect place for couples to go dining … Love it !
