Cafe Rouge - Bournemouth in Bournemouth

Slightly disappointing. Usual Cafe Rouge nice decor and ambiance as expected. We were as usual handed menus and left to make our choice. On waitress return we advised our choice from the Set Menu only to be advised that this was excluded if we had any coupons or vouchers (had Tesco vouchers to use up) There was nothing on the menu to say this or as far as can recall on website. Can understand perhaps reason for this but would have been more acceptable if this had been advised at outset. This therefore led to a quick change of menu choice. Decided upon the Beef Bourguignon. Meal was tasty and well presented although not personally a fan of the food being dished up in separate bowls. The size of the portion of accompanying mashed potato was very small especially considering a price of £16.95 and was not enough to soak up the juices from the sauce.

Had afternoon tea for 2 as a Valentines day treat. Lovely to have the savoury and the sweet although shame they've stopped the mini croque monsieur . Everything was lovely. Good price of £15 per person. Very good service. Love the atmosphere and decor too.

Used Groupon offer such good value for great food 3 delicious courses, pate, steak/fishcake and creme brulee. Easy to book table on the website.

Very attentive regards peanut allergy , surprised with some foods ie french fries being off limits!Fillet steak cold and sent back , it was replaced but with a sirloin/ rump steak definitely not fillet !The restaurant was very busyI am undecided whether I would return , waitress was very helpful though.

Had a voucher here for an Afternoon Tea for 2 people, managed to get a table before it got very busy around 2ish.The good was great, lovely little baguettes and quiches plus unlimited hot drinks. The deserts were the highlight for me though, especially the Creme Brulee. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Great breakfast. I came here for breakfast with a group of friends and I have to say it was great, the staff were very helpful even though we had a fussy eater in the group. The decor is great and I spent ages admiring the quirky french look of the place. The food was super, great portion sizes and a very good price. I will definitely be back again soon.

Service was so so nice and that's it. Prices are not adequate to quality of food served. Burger was average and steak was not good. We were hungry after this visit. From the kitchen you can hear frustrated polish chef, complaining how bad is to work there.

Lovely setting with attentive friendly service. Food was delicious. We ate on a Groupon Voucher which limited our options but still plenty to choose from and good portion sizes. Definitely recommend.
