Cliff House Hotel in Bournemouth

A great place to stay or just eat and drink. Had a great time at the silent disco 😃

Very nice place, my room was very cold, bathroom towel rail was hot but the radiator in the bedroom didn't get warm. Breakfast was lovely, staff were great restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday opens Wednesday. Definitely will stay again.

My husband, daughter and I recently visited for Sunday lunch on a sunny, Sunday in January. From the warm welcome at reception, to the attentive staff, everyone was lovely! The Sunday roast was just perfect, served quickly, and piping hot. I loved that my chicken came with a Yorkshire pudding :) I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again and visit.

Unfortunately we never managed to experience the Cliff House as we were massively let down by them.We contacted them about having our wedding there and the receptionist booked us in to meet with Richard.We met a few days later and after discussing things and dates, we received the initial invoice and agreed a date.I then phoned the registrar to book it in and was informed they don’t actually have a wedding license so we couldn’t book it. Not once was this mentioned by the Venue.I contacted the venue who then admitted they didn’t have one as they let it expire due to Covid (understandably) but would be renewing it imminently as they have had a few enquiries.After speaking to the superintendent registrar who reassured me she can’t see an issue with their application, we were feeling positive (still nervous incase anyone objected but we were going to go with it) and excited about having our wedding at the Cliff House.After being told in writing they would be applying for a license by mid March, I was then phoned a couple of days later and told they wouldn’t be applying for a license at all as it wasn’t financially viable and to put the things in place such as health and safety and fired regs was also going to be expensive.Disappointed and upset is an understatement. We felt we were lied to from the beginning.We are doing a ‘quick’ wedding for personal reasons and the Cliff House would have been perfect.We hadn’t even looked at other venues as were so sure this was the one.I wish them the best for the future as I think they will need it but be cautious when choosing them for a momentous occasion.

15 of us went for a Christmas do. Sensible precautions. Consistently clean loo throughout the night despite at least 90 people (merrily drunk) onsite. The device was swift and clever. We had pre-ordered and all the dishes came to the table and the staff called out the name of the person who'd ordered the dish. Worked perfectly. The food (I had venison and stilton pie) was really good across the board. Service at the bar was fast and fun. What great little crew they have. The cost was really mighty reasonable. Not cheap but definitely not taking the Mickey out of Christmas like so many others. The DJ/disco was average but far from the worst. So all in, a really good night had by all. If the food and service was what they can do when catering en masse then I think it bodes really well for when they are under less pressure. Thanks very much.

We came in on Thursday 25th Nov as we were looking for somewhere in Southbourne that was different from the usual places and even though we had no booked a table we received a nice warm welcome, the girl serving us was brilliant, the food great and the prices good. 100% recommended and we will definitely be back soon.

Went for a funeral tea. Hardworking staff, slightly over-run. Plenty of sandwiches, quiches were good, not a fan of the sausage rolls. Tea and coffee kept coming with a pay bar for those who wanted it. Fit for purpose.

This hotel goes above and beyond to make your stay special . The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotlessly clean. I will definitely be going back for another stay and would highly recommend to anyone. The location to the beach is fab
