Very disappointed with our stay. We were in room 12 a junior suite. The room was pleasant enough, a good size although old which adds to its character. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable, the "quilt" no longer had padding in most of it, so we were cold as it was like sleeping under a sheet! The bathroom was old and dirty. Stains/mess in the toilet, mouldy grout around the bath and tiles, black mould around the bath taps, when using the jet function on the bath, the smell was awful, obviously not been cleaned in a while (we had to have a second bath without the spa). All around the bottom of the basin was black, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned and there was what looked like a blood stain on the floor!Wifi didn't work, and we had to ask for the password as we weren't given it on arrival. The gentleman on the desk didn't seem very happy and hardly said a word. I didn't feel confident enough to approach him with our concerns. (I had checked on the website and no other rooms were available so we wouldn't have been moved).Walking into the hotel it is beautiful and well kept, so expected the room to be in keeping with this. This was a one off valentines stay, it ruined our day and I feel very down about the whole thing!

We stayed in the junior suite which was nice but the bathroom needed attention , stains on the floor, cracked tiles and the bath trim was falling off, definitely not 4 star. However breakfast was served at the Derby Manor across the road and was excellent.we will stay here next time

We took advantage of the quiet new year period & booked the 'Kings room', the room was fantastic & the photographs do not capture the grandeur or the sheer size of the room.We then decided to stay another night, this time in 'Lillie's room', the room was very well presented & the showpiece bath in the corner of the room is fantastic.Overall, our experience was very good, only let down by our host, who wasn't very welcoming & seemed very 'bored' but pleasant enough nonetheless. On another note, we found the Hotel to be extremely warm, we had to sleep with balcony doors & windows open through the night, not the end of the world or a deal-breaker.We enjoyed our stay, the Hotel is clean, steeped in history & a worthy visit, the price was fantastic and we will most definitely be looking to book in the future.

Lovely hotel with history. More tired in places than the photo's suggest but this added to the quaintness for me. Great reception staff who really looked after us. Breakfast was 1st Class in quality, choice and service. Would defitely stay here again xx

On arrival the young lady greeted us with a genuinly friendly smile, was exceptionally pleasant as in fact we're all the staff on reception and within the hotel.Breakfast was delicious, spoilt for choice and definitely would recommend. The room was a good size, bed exceptional quality and always replenished the tea, coffee and biscuits aswell as bottled water . Nothing was too much and the bar was reasonably priced. The experience was A***Thank you.

Been before a few years ago and had a fantastic meal. No food this time around which was disappointing. Bar not well stocked and average service, at best. A shame as it has a great history and atmosphere to the building. Better when I visited ten years ago or so....back then it was brilliantly quirky!! And £4.50 plus for a bottle of beer is ludicrous!

A beautifully presented hotel with friendly, polite staff. Room was very clean and comfortable. I think the pricing is also very fair. A very enjoyable breakfast too! Highly recommended.

water trickled out the taps and mattress felt hard and lumpy. Reception seemed more interested in stopping me talking so other guests didn’t hear. But on the plus side the hotel and room had old fashioned charm and was very clean. Most importantly the owner did call me an seemed to take my comments constructively.

The staff really made our trip exceptional. Their service and attitude is absolutely amazing. Every single person we came in contact with was friendly and so very helpful. The room was absolutely amazing! We spent a week there and loved being able to chill on the sofa as well as on the bed. There was also a brilliant vanity area which was perfect to set everything out to get ready for a night out.We loved the location of the hotel. It's back from any main roads but an easy walking distance from the pier and shops. We must have walked in a couple of times each day. The grounds of the hotel are also beautiful. The garden is lovely to relax in.We couldn't recommend it enough!
