Nippon Inn in Bournemouth

I love this restaurant because the food is so authentic and comforting! I live in Japan for 7 years and can say that it is the closest to what my friend’s Mum’s or Japanese ‘home cooked’ style food. The tempura, karaage and sushi are all fantastic. Highly recommend.

The food was lovely. We tried sake for the 1st time and it was strong but very good. Lovely relaxed atmosphere

Food and service were excellent! Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Sushi was fresh and delicious. Didn’t realise they also do takeaway 🍣 🍱

Lovely food, friendly staff and a nice selection of Japanese beers. Would definitely recommend eating "tapas" style sharing lots of different foods otherwise there's so much good stuff it's difficult to choose!

We were looking for a sushi restaurant around New Milton's area and found this one online, after reading good reviews we thought - sounds great! - so we head down to Bournemouth area to have dinner!When arriving unfortunately the experience was quite disappointingThe wooden table was sticky and smellyThe toilet is very old, discoloured and creepyWe were served in what resembles to a fruit bowl....We tried the nigiri selection and the chef selection - after this, we gave up ordering food, as the quality was one of the worst we've ever triedThe rice was too much and falling apart as the pieces were not properly assembledDried, tasteless.. The tuna mayo pieces were awfulI'm giving 2 stars as:The red raw tuna fish was not badThe waitress young lady was friendlyWon't definitely repeat - and if you really appreciate good sushi avoid this placeGood sushi isn't cheap so actually you will get what you've paid forThank you!

It's easy to overlook this little Charminster restaurant, but it is such a gem, with a dedicated and hands-on manager. Although we've not been to Japan, we can say that Nippon Inn has a really homely feel, and the cuisine feels authentic, flavourful and really fresh compared to the Japanese chain restaurants out there. Make sure to book if you'd like to get a spot at one of their two tatami mat tables in the window!
