Argus Fish Bar in Bristol

Really tasty authentic British food and Bristolian hospitality. I had cod and chips and ate all of it. The shop made curry sauce is top notch, similar to Irish curry sauce. All fish lots come with a wedge of lemon. Make sure you talk to the owner, he has loads of stories to tell and will debate whether a crocodile is bigger than an aligator ha ha 🐊

Just had a haddock and chips special for a very reasonable £6.50 from here, 10/10, freshly cooked, large portion, crispy chips, nice wedge of 🍋, everything as it should be 🙂, I will definitely be going back v.soon.

Cracking Fish and Chips, freshly cooked and good sized portion. Staff friendly and obviously know their regular customers. On street parking only, but do take telephone orders.

I’ve tried a lot of chippies in Bristol and this is by far my favourite. The food is always fresh, nicely cooked and tasty. The service is super friendly and they have items on the board that other chip shops just don’t have. I travel across Bristol to have them as they’re so good and their curry sauce is the best I’ve had anywhere!

They are great, best f&c in South Bristol but be aware the opening hours on Google are not updated.

This is a fantastic fish bar which makes some of the best fish & chips in Bristol which is always served with a piece of lemon . Very hygienic as well which is a big plus in my book .

*I went back a week after giving my review below and specifically asked for fresh chips, they were very pleasant with my request and a massively positive difference in the chips this time....When they are good they are good. Increased my stars as well*The last three times I went to this fish and chip shop, chap super friendly and always talking to customers, HOWEVER I have been served chips that have been sitting in the serving area for too long so when i go home to eat them (I live 5 min drive away) they are rubbery and stale.This is super disappointing as you pay over £3 for a large portion and mainly because when they serve you fresh chips they are really good. I do not understand why they would want to serve customers chips that have been sitting there for that long.My advise is if you are going to go to this chip shop ask them if the chips they are serving you are fresh b4 you take them home.
