Drinks were very expensive, and the place was covered completely in smoke from overuse of their smoke machine. Friendly staff, however saw no people in the pub within the age range of 18-24 practically, was filled with old men who nonstop touched us up within minutes of entering the pub. If you're female, I would never suggest going to this pub, very disappointed.

It was super busy when we went in but the staff really managed the place well! The selection of beer is fantastic! Especially if you’re into German beer! However, much like the trend there is a lot of IPA. Friendly attitude and will be back.

·

Extensive range of beers and ciders available. Great atmosphere inside and plenty of benches outside when the weather is favourable. Fascinating historical building in a great old location near the river.

·

Used to visit every weekend for the great food and happy to say it's still great. Fair selection of drinks beer, cider, wine etc. Quite a friendly crowd as well.

Kicked us out for loosely installed lights in the window, which fell on us and we tried to put back up. They were there within seconds to kick us out for messing with their equipment when we were just putting their poorly secured lights back. Security guard was rude to us, but member of staff who accompanied her was kind and understanding.

Well you know the history, Robert Louis Stevenson's inspiration for Long John Silver and Treasure Island ... But what is the place like? Answer is the beer and lager choice is excellent, the pub reflects it's history well ...

The reviews of this place from the days when it was run by a national PubCo should really be deleted. It has gone in one fell swoop from being a dull chain pub to an individually concocted, very pubby space that would not look out of place as a large village bar. It complements the array of other pubs along King Street very well. Best of luck during the omicronic neurosis guys.

Great historical pub. Selection of both real ale and craft beers from local breweries and Czech, including several delicious dark or black beers. And good value too. Disabled entrance on the side for those that have trouble with the steep steps.

·

Superb beer selection - world beers, craft, and real ales, about 40 of them! It is a bit pricey but that's the deal on King Street. The pub itself has a lot of character and the 'red room' is a lot of fun, great energy

Beautifully well-maintained historical pub in the heart of Bristol's bustling King Street. The choice of beers on offer is mind-boggling, and the staff really know their stuff. Great seating both outdoors and in, and a really easygoing atmosphere.
