Golden Gate in Bristol

Traditional Chinese takeaway, great food and great value for money too! Been using for 6 years as live locally. I'd advise you to put in a counter order or phone order and collect yourself rather than order online for delivery as timings can be massively inconsistent and delivery times long (even for very local orders), but that aside I'd highly recommend.

Pretty disgusting to be fair. Chips were about 10 days old hard and gross. Beef with mushrooms with basically a tub of onions not even cooked and was dry. The spring roll was supposed to be mini rolls and it was falling apart. The only good thing was the rice

Really enjoyed the duck & beansprouts - plenty of lovely duck meat. Himself was delighted with King Prawn Crispy noodles with plenty of prawns & lots of really varied veg. Substantial meals from my parents favourite take-away. Not too long of a wait at 6.30 (they open 5.30)

Positives: generous portions, quick delivery, fried rice, fried noodles, crispy beef, banana fritter were good.Crispy chicken and crispy squid, crispy tofu - a bit too much cornflour used, making the chicken and tofu a bit too hard and the squid a bit soggy. Duck with pineapple wasn't the best, clear sauce.

This is a delicious place to get a Chinese. They had run out of what I wanted but provided a fantastic alternative. It is incredibly priced for what they give you and the food was incredible. Will definitely return for more! The spring rolls and satay chicken are incredible and massive! They said it would be 25 mins and when i turned at 20 mins it was ready for collection. I would recommend!

I am what you might call a Chinese food fiend. It's my number one favourite type of take away food, and I've sampled most of the Chinese restaurants in the area, but this place is the best by far! The prices seems higher than other place, but I'm sure the tubs are a bit bigger. 6 stars :)

Food was lovely.... but I've never seen a transparent bbq sauce! I actually thought it was sweet and sour.... ! Would have been a 4 stars.. but the bbq sauce was weak..... jelly like. !

Extremely disappointing. Ordered the spring rolls which only had beansprouts in, and three strips of unidentifiable meat, which was not mentioned on the menu. Absolutely disgraceful food.

Gave it a try twice and both times struggled to order. As vegetarians we asked if we could remove something from one of the dishes and the lady asked if we mean the pork or the shirimp one. We ordered veg dishes and were terrified how wrong the ordering was going. Gave up after 5mins concerned the food will come out entirely different to what we ordered.The second time we were served by a very confused schoolgirl who didn't understand the concept of vegetarian food at all and included prawn crackers in our order.Never again. Shame as this is our local Chinese.

We’re new to Bristol from California so we’re trying new places. I saw other reviews of Golden Gate and being not too far away decided to stop in. Definitely worth it. The food is fresh and fast and the workers are friendly. This has become our go to spot when we’re in the mood for Chinese.
