It was very quiet which was a shame because the food was good. Very expansive menu so almost too much to chose from. But a nice meal

The worst dining experience i’ve ever had.I’ve been to Obento before and loved the food although i noticed the food doesn’t ever come out all together but this time i went with a group of friends and we all got our mains but 1. 45 minutes goes by and we’ve all finished our food and my friend still hasn’t gotten her food. I asked twice for a server to find out what happened to it and received no response. Finally, after asking for a 3rd time her food comes out. Then, when paying they charge us a service charge. I say i do not want to pay this as i thought they service was awful. They then tell me i have to (legally) pay it . I am a law student, i know that i do not. i tell the manager this is not true and none the less she makes me pay the charge. Absolutely Horrendous service i would never ever go here again.DO NOT GO IF YOU WANT ANYTHING MORE THAN HORRENDOUS SERVICE.I feel scammed. The food this time wasn’t even very good. One of my friends couldn’t even eat the chicken teriyaki as it tastes so rubbery and fake.Worst experience ever i felt so angered by it and the owner did not care 1 bit.Seriously, do not go here.

One of the strangest and least authentic Japanese dining experiences I've had to date. The 'bento box' contained orange slices and lettuce with salad cream which I do not believe to be staples in Nippon. As another reviewer pointed out: orange slices have their place in children's lunch-boxes and half time team talks, not Japanese cuisine.Confusion, disappointment and a mild sting from the citrus on my bottom lip.2 stars

This is the second time. I have been to Obento, once before the pandemic and this time. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming and willing to go the extra mile to make sure your experience is top-notch.While it can be a little expensive I found the portion sizes to be more than large enough and of high enough quality to justify the cost.I will definitely be going back again next time I'm in the city centre.

Obento was the first Japanese restaurant that I ever ate in, 15 years ago. Upon returning to Bristol I was hesitant to return, based on a few negative reviews. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised when I came for a friend’s party in one of the upstairs karaoke rooms. The staff were professional and attentive, and the food that I had – una don (grilled eel rice), mango fry roll (deep fried fish sushi roll wrapped with mango) and miso soup – was good. Not sure how authentic the mango sushi is but it was still tasty; the unagi was cooked well and had the correct flavour, and the soup hit the spot. The karaoke room was great value – £150 for 3 hours of karaoke and £150 worth of food and drink. So if you spend £150 on food and drink then basically you get the karaoke for free. You could easily fit 10 people in that room, making it very reasonably priced. We had a great time there and I’d love to return for more karaoke and food.

Amazing food, sushi to die for, service was incredible, very attentive, second time we have been still brilliant, will be back for more !

Customer service was so bad. No greeting at all and then waited at least 25 minutes for my food, at which my partner had finished his. No mention of the wait. Salmon set was tasty and affordable however the maki - rice ratio was too high. Prawn tempura really bad. Got a stomach pain after the food. Not even a good bye until we said it first. Asked for the bill and it never came, we had to go up to pay.Would not recommend

We spent a very nice afternoon. Everything what we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend this venue.

We came since we searched some society website, We don’t know how it can be so many high scores. I can not believe the food is sooooo terrible! We wait more then 2 hours for the chicken curry rice, and can you believe there are some tomatoes and dried mushroom in the curry?!!! WTF??? The BBQ are also extremely not recommended since it’s totally not Chinese taste!!!! And the undos are not traditional Japanese dishes, maybe has been some amazing improved???
