The Commercial Rooms in Bristol

My expectations are always too high for a Wetherspoon in a City ... Had a problem with my steak, gristle and tendon everywhere ... The staff very quickly took responsibility, apologised and gave a healthy refund ... Beer quite well kept too ... Roasted veg portion pityful ....

Decent spoons, toilets like all spoons are a fair walk to but good signage. Decent selection of drinks. Bar is located in the middle of the main room.

Excellent although at first there was a problem with the coolers this was fixed and all was normal - fantastic venue really friendly staff the Christmas burger was excellent and who doesn't like pigs in blankets - overall a fantastic time and we will be back 25/02 had a pint of corona menu says price should be £3,39 but I was charged £3,79 as per receipt

I am a person who - as matter of my own self entitled principle - doesn't go to weatherspoons unless dragged there... That being said, I came back here a few times after being dragged for the first time. It is the nicest one around to be honest. An added bonus is the fact that the staff here don't slack around, it's a very welcome sight.

The building inside is quite run down with scaffolding supporting part of the structure and overall doesn’t feel desperately clean.Ordered on line for a 15 minute wait for the drinks to turn up.Overall really not a great experience. Would not recommend unless Wetherspoons sort their act out on this pub a bit.And a little add on to my review once the food finally arrived…..there was no salt available at the condiments station but you can find used ones stuck to the wall 😱😱

Mid sized Spoons in historic building with good selection of beers and ciders

An absolute disgrace of a pub. Hundreds of customers and 1 person serving. Waited 45 minutes to get served, gave up in the end. They pay the staff pennies, the bar should be overrun with staff. Ruined my night. Hope the place goes bankrupt. Disgrace.

Breakfast sandwich was one of the saddest I've ever seen but other breakfast items were fine, cheap and low quality but not bad. As for the place it's self, a beautiful building ruined by having a soulless pub inside it. It was sticky, flies everywhere, dimly lit and had no atmosphere beyond grim

Look out for the Compass behind the bar - hundreds of years ago, the ship owners & traders would meet, the Compass would be set showing the direction of the prevailing winds. The wind direction gave ship owners & traders an idea when the (Sailing) 'Ships would land'. If you are standing with the Rooms behind you, Go left & within 100 paces you will be beside some metal tables.....,.. these are called nails, the Ship owners would spread a sample of their cargo on a nail & do a deal with a trader - hence the expression 'Paid on the Nail'. I. Have given 4 stars, not 5, to say Bristol is a wonderful City and has Universities. The Commercial Rooms are Centrally located, inexpensive & you may find it too popular. Final problem is no Parking, I would try the Galleries Carpark, go to the top turn right and you have a short walk. I am including a picture of a Barber Shop that is on the left of the road leading to the Commercial Rooms on your right, but look out for the Nails on your left just before the Commercial Rooms. Visited here twice for brekkie. Can't go wrong with a Spoons. Big brekkie excellent value for money. 99p bottomless coffee is just great out of the machines. £3.69 for a pint of Punk IPA....or £1.99 for a pint of bitter if that's your tipple. Just can't beat it. Friendly staff. Clean building, toilets etc. App works like a dream.
