Great atmosphere, open fire, friendly staff and good food. I had mussels which were very good. They clearly understand the importance of the details too - the bread was fresh and nicely toasted on a grill, the butter was firm (but not too firm) and seemed to be some upmarket brand, and the mayonnaise was good quality. Somehow, the prices are standard pub fare - unbeatable for the quality of food on offer and competitive with many disappointing meals I've had elsewhere.

This is a lovely positioned pub with food. We’ve been here before and always left happy. Tonight, however, less so. No steaks, no gammon, no seasonal greens. Initial waitress did not deliver the news with even a hint of an apology. Later staff much more becoming, though. Couldn’t do coffee for a dessert dish “ because of a power cut” in a fully lit pub!??? Food received was good; basic items missing from the menu a cause for concern.

Good food and polite staff but very very overpriced. Had a Gin and Lemonade and I paid £2.15 just for a bit of lemonade and £4.20 for the single gin. Then I had a pint of coke that was £3.40 for 1 pint. If your thinking about going to this pub for food, bring your own drinks. There is a drinks menu you get on your table but it doesn’t have any prices on it which I find quite sneaky. Personally I would not return just due to the prices

Great place for a drink by the river and really dog friendly with treats and even their own water barrel!

Been a few times since moving to Bristol, always good food. Booked for Xmas day 2021 and loved it, food quality was just a good as normal service, if not better. Slight problem with the bill at the end but this was resolved straight away. Would definitely book again.

What a wonderful little pub! Honestly, this must be one of the cosiest pubs around, boasting fantastic Butcombe beers and, by appearances, although I haven't sampled yet myself, great food. Just outside is a beautiful view of Clifton and the river running through Hotwells right in front of the pub. Special

Lovely pub by the basin, just down from SS Great Britain. Good choice of drinks. Really good butcombe ale. Nice food good atmosphere. Popular with locals and tourists alike. On a popular circular walk around the basin starting at the M shed. Felt safe with Covid precautions. Seating outside for taking in of the bracing air. Would recommend.

We are on a 5 day birthday break....and what a surprise! All of a sudden, in the early evening, the weather brightened up and the whole of Bristol was strolling along the river bank, paddle boarding, cycling and generally enjoying themselves. And then we happened upon this lovely pub. Perfect location, wonderful views, boat trips, good ales, good ( but expensive food ) and the most wonderful Aperol Spritz '!! And....the icing on the cake....Good people watching!! We used the App to save mixing indoors and it worked perfectly . It was busy. The staff were lovely and it was the perfect evening.....
