The reviewer of another, mediocre, restaurant recommended this place - we were not disappointed. There are not many covers, so booking is advisable at weekends. Although the menu is short, it has a sensible spread of choices that all appear to be cooked to order. We were uncertain of portion size, so decided to share a bowl of the carrot, chilli & orange soup - it was a generous serving and tasted divine. My wife chose leek & potato rosti, peperonata, spinach, halloumi, onion rings and poached egg, and I chose butternut, roasted vegetable and cashew Wellington, roasties, seasonal veg and red wine gravy. Both dishes were also generous servings and both superb - excellent combinations of tastes and textures and ingredients. Go there!

Home cooked British food! Highly recommend risotto and scotch eggs. Price is so friendly too! No service charge!

The roast was amazing, the beef was pink and the Yorkshire was incredible and the roasties were out of this world.

Absolute best. Honestly, a firm favourite and the first on my list of recommendations when suggesting somewhere absolutely out of this world to eat!🎶WeLoveChrisAndJosWeLoveChrisAndJJos🎶

What can I say, an absolute gem. Very understated, relaxed atmosphere with unpretentious yet top class food and drink. Started with a craft IPA and a stunning malbec, then had hake and chicken thigh, also a roast beef, and roast chicken. Desserts were tamarind sticky toffee pudding, plum crumble and coffee pannacotta. Everything cooked to perfection. The roasts came with cauliflower cheese and leeks. Why go to a gastropub when you can go here? Highly recommend.

Excellent as always. Lovely service, and top notch gastronomic experience that is affordably priced and satisfyingly seasonal.

Excellent cooking, with generous portions. Very well priced. Does not get anything like the recognition it deserves!

My wife and I have been enjoying the wonderful food from Chris and Jo during lockdown, bringing it home to eat, but this is a review of the first time we "dined in".These guys deserve to be a huge success. They bring warmth and love to the customers and inventiveness, great skill, generosity and the same love to the food. Everything we ate was superb, and the portions! Let's say that you won't be going home hungry! It's really good value too. At the risk of making it harder to get a table in future, if you read this I urge you to check them out. This is that perfect little neighbourhood bistro you've been looking for. You'll love it !

Amazing Sunday roast top side of beef takeaway from here today. As another reviewer said if I could afford it I'd eat from here every day! Everything was quality, cooked from scratch & seasoned to perfection. Am definitely going to be back for more delicious, quality, healthy food Thanks guys 😊. Only thing wished different is that there was a grease proof paper slip under food in the box. This is purely because took a little while to pick mine up & by the time got it home some of the lovely sauces had soaked into the box. Possibly me just being greedy here but it's honestly to tasty to waste a drop!

This is what I call a Sunday lunch! Chris and Jo’s is a small restaurant providing a memorable menu. We made a reservation (make sure you do because they are reputable) for two. 1 hour 30 mins is ample time to enjoy a starter and main.First time having chowder - I loved it. Creamy with seafood chunks and bread to dip into! I had to be careful I didn’t fill my stomach up too quickly because my beef roast arrived soon after. They serve an assortment of vegetables all cooked to adequate tenderness. I’m not a huge fan of Yorkshire puddings in general so I won’t comment on that. The meat was dripping with juice. I just about managed it all.Pleasant, welcoming service and the meal was
