The Office Bar & Canteen in Bristol

The Canteen has always been excellent, but since the recent refurb in 2022 they really have taken it to a whole new level. The food has always been good value, but the new kitchen is really smashing it. Although it's not quite as cheap as it was once, it's still inexpensive and it's hard to find a better meal anywhere nearby. They always have great beer from local breweries - always good to see Moor and W&T on tap. The staff are really lovely and there's often some good live music to boot. There are plenty of good places to go on Stokes Croft but the Canteen has everything and does it all well. Make sure you pay them a visit.

Wouldn't return as I couldn't spend my crisp 5£ note on a pint and caught a bad case of covid whilst here. Why cashless? Band was good. Could do with more ventilation rather than the 2 inches of open window for the 80 crammed in people.

Wish I could rate the food, however due to the service, it never arrived. Was on my lunch break, placed an order and waited at my table for 40 minutes whilst they prepared food for people who had arrived after me. The whole time, there were 4 people behind the bar just stood there doing absolutely nothing except checking their phones, including the man who had taken my order. When I informed him I had to go back to work, he refunded me and offered me some olives in a bowl, which I obviously could not accept because I had to go back to my office?! The whole place gives a painfully we’re too cool to care about anything vibe. I would recommend the new revamped Canteen if you are a person who is also too cool to care, particularly about when, or if, your food ever arrives.

Delicious food! I had the sticky bang bang tempeh! Yummy! Salad was good too!It was a jam session tonight and sometimes it was the house band jamming and other times others got to be on stage to jam. Good vibe. Good fun!

Went there for a gig and few beers, lovely place to be! And great local beers!Staff's awesome as well.

Great place with great food and gigs! It is quite a cool place, one of my favourites in Bristol as it combines drinks food and music and it also provides the freedom to do all three of them or even none. Last time there was a great reggae band that was really up beating!

Nice coffee and friendly staff. Doesn't seem like a solo kind of place though. If you have managed to make any friends bring them here for some good food and drink.

Went for a roast and was extremely disappointed. Placed an order ahead of time and was served a cold roast with 2/4 sides missing. Although we preordered the 'leek and cheddar crumble' we were met with confusion as to what we ordered as the menu item is the 'mature cheddar, leek and broccoli crumble'. When we arrived we were told we had made a mistake so all of the items we requested were sold out, although only 2/6 requested the crumble. The other 4 requested nut roast and that was sold out as well. We were very understanding as Canteen is known for their great roasts! We ordered the menu items happily. When served, the food was stone cold. I asked for a refund politely as it was incredibly bland as well as cold. After the manager pretended that the transaction was just fine and apologised profusely, he immediately went to the chef and was pointing and talking about us. Not good food, genuinely rude people working there. The entertainment, however, was awesome with really talented musicians! Huge bummer. Will avoid.
