As always this pub is spotless the staff of very well trained and friendly and the garden is an absolute godsend. Am I overdoing it? I think not, on the last visit we were treated to some excellent acoustic covers of well-known songs by brilliant duo on a Sunday afternoon. However last visit was slightly marred by some unruly children climbing on the roof of the wendy house throwing Jenga blocks at the fence!

Came with friends for food and drinks. Food was good value and arrived quickly. Lovely selection of gins and beer cheaper than most places nearby!! Definitely coming again soon.

I’ll start by saying the staff were faultless, attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere was also nice and warm. This is just a review for the Sunday roast. We didn’t realise the pub had changed hands, it used to be one of our go tos for a roast in Bristol but unfortunately we will not be returning. The pork was dry and tasteless, was meant to come with crackling but didn’t, no apple sauce, the veg had a microwaved taste, the cauliflower cheese was watery and had zero seasoning. Such a shame as it used to be so good!

Came for a drink on our way down Gloucester Road into town. Very nice Guinness. One of the party had a dessert. Chocolate fudge cake, looked a very good portion and it was enjoyed. Definitely worth a stop by, seemed very friendly with a great terraced garden/smoking area. Just a shame I live the wrong side of town to try it more often.

Lovely warm, welcoming pub with superb food, great staff and live sports. I ordered the lamb shank dish, which fell off the bone beautifully and tasted delicious. Would highly recommend.

Was in for a Sunday roast today, first under the new management, but was sadly disappointed, not nearly as good as before.Beef was chewy and overdone despite us eating towards the start of service.Roast potatoes were small and not at all crispy. Asked for mustard, expecting English, and was offered the American stuff you put on hotdogs. The gravy was good and portion large, plus staff were friendly and there was a good choice of drinks.I'll come back if they fire the pizza oven in the lovely garden up again to give them another chance, but will go elsewhere for roasts.

Visited the Royal Oak over the weekend and this has become a firm favorite with my family and I. Service was great, not over the top but friendly and efficient. There is a very large and varied menu and this catered for all the needs of my fussy family, food itself is standard pub food, came out quickly and hot so no complaints here. Beer selection is excellent with a cracking pint of Neck Oil and good selection of beers, the Cheltenham Gold was perfect. They have a massive selection of gins and spirits and to top all this off they show sports but at a decent volume so it is not intrusive. So glad to have a proper pub to visit.

Had a fantastic burger, great quality and value. Brilliant mid-week deals and a garden that'll be brill in the summer. Dog-friendly and the staff are happy to have a chat. Great place to watch the rugby as well so will be bringing some mates next time.

Had a fantastic tipsy cream tea. The staff and service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I'll definitely be doing that again soon.

I love this pub my daughter really enjoys playing in the garden. There are plenty of things to keep her busy all year round. The climbing frame and Wendy house in the summer and book's in the winter. The menu on offer is also very good and management are very friendly, especially Lia.
