Crown Carvery The King's Arms in Cheltenham

Lovely comfortable decor, friendly attentive staff, fabulous food, not your usual pub grub. Really good top restaurant quality food. Great outdoor space, large car park for the area. Kids and dogs welcome [we'll behaved]. A real gem. Loved it so much came back twice in a four night visit to the area.

I always see 1 star reviews at times and think to myself 'it cannot be that bad'However The Kings Arms in Prestbury thoroughly deserves it. Four of us went for Sunday lunch and had one of the worst experiences of our lives. Not one member of staff looked like they want to be there. I understand its busy but a smile goes a long way in making everyone feel welcome.As for the food, well we must have had the work experience chef on today as the veggies were cooked to an inch of their life and were so soggy they might have well been liquid. The roast potatoes someone had clearly forgotten to part boil as were practically solid inside. The restaurant thinks it is doing you a good service by offering unlimited of the sides when what they give you so disgusting you will not want more. As for the meat I hope you have been doing your jaw exercises as if you have the pork you will be chewing it for hours, after 48 hours I think I have nearly finished mine.Why we did not just get up and leave is beyond us as in hindsight we should have done. Having left quickly and still hungry we had to venture into town and get a sandwich instead.As for ever going back its a firm no from all of us and would suggest to others to avoid this overpriced establishment.

Our first visit, and the roasts were nice (endless spuds too!), especially the veg. I won't have the pork chop again though. No mention on the menu of it being a chop instead of cut roast pork. Maybe they'd run out?

The welcome I received was less than warm. Our table was booked for 1.15 but unfortunately their car park was full so I was about 10 minutes late. Not bad going as I'd travelled from Norfolk to get there. However the food was delicious and the waiting staff were most helpful.

Just had Sunday roast here. The whole experience was excellent. I am gluten free and my Sunday lunch was delicious. We had extra roast potatoes and vegetables at no extra cost. Compliments to the chef and the brilliant staff. We will be returning very soon.

Would easily rate this 0 stars but have to give 1. We went for Sunday Dinner and were thoroughly disappointed as we had heard good things.Staff here are a major issue, not one smile from any of them and we felt we were being a massive hinderance asking to move tables as our daughter who is disabled was asked to sit downstairs.Food was massively overpriced for a very basic roast dinner. £17.95 for a couple of pieces of meat, 1 potato and the smallest amount of veg. I understand prices are going up but honestly that is really taking the biscuit! Not only that it did not really taste well.Did not stay for dessert or anything else as we had to leave due to feeling seriously uncomfortable.Definitely a place to avoid!

Table booked for eight of us on Saturday 26th February at 1:45pm, pub was packed but we were promptly taken to our table and served. The food was absolutely delicious, staff very attentive - only gripe was the price of the wine..... really, £30 for a bottle of New Zealand white wine - that would only be £10 in the supermarkets!!!! ☹️

Amazing food and great service. Staff was very warm and engaging. It isn't on the cheap side with 2 mains+2 drinks and 2 children's menus setting you back approx £80, but it's well worth it. Quality ingredients prepared to a high standard. Loved it

First time back since they've reopened and we're so happy to have you back!Roast was great as always, we had beef and pork and all the Yorkshire puds you can wish for. Also had pistachio souffle (a must!) and coffee. Safety measures were great (effective and not too invasive) and service quick and as good as we remembered from before lockdown.Very happy to have our local back up and running!
