Arcado Lounge in Christchurch

I know it's called shabby chic, but to me it's just shabby. I find the lighting dull, there's little natural light due to the location in an arcade and the whole place is a little depressing. Ordering from the table on your smartphone works remarkable well, but the food is mediocre. There are many better venues within a few metres. Not my favourite which is a pity as the coffee, snack, glass of wine, food (basically anything you want at any time) like a continental brasserie is a great concept, but this venue needs something more to tempt me back.

We had a lovely meal here last weekend when visiting our family nearby. I had the butter fried chicken and chips and my husband had the pulled pork chilli with a nice bottle of red wine. The restaurant had a lovely warm feeling and the staff were friendly and helpful. If I lived nearby I would definitely eat there.

Arcado Lounge saved the day for me when I travelled down from London and arrived in Christchurch really late. Nowhere was doing food except this place and it was really good. Great chicken burger and the chips were spot on. Service was excellent, the two members of staff who were working were great.

An absolutely amazing spot! Friendly staff, welcoming environment, really delicious food and affordable prices. We have tried a "beyond" cheeseburger and vegetarian curry (forgot the full name, sadly) and they tasted so good! Will definitely visit this place again at some point.

Friendly staff, good value and lovely food. Table and floor under were a little mucky but it was a busy day. Overall good and would definitely recommend it.

Amazing food, great environment. Lovely staff.The let down (of all things) was the ladies toilet facilities being poorly maintained that evening. One had no light, one was out if order, 1 had no loo roll and a broken loo seat and the floor was wet and sticky.

We were in here Saturday night for a few beers and then again Sunday morning for breakfast. Food and drink were exceptional and the service is great too. Thoroughly recommend 👍🏻

Really good, very busy but was told as we entered by staff so no biggy just a slightly longer wait for food. All very nice, I had the large veggie breakfast. They were out of sausages so they replaced it with extras of a few items already on the plate. The group I was with were all very happy with their meals as well. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately our experience wasn’t great on Sunday evening.Overall the food was so bland, and looked like it had been sitting around for a while.I had to ask for the remaining bits of our food several times, and I still didn’t receive it all.When i said the carrots served with the humus were soggy and old, and I wasn’t happy giving them to my child. I saw and heard the chef and waitress mockingly discussing it. We got even worse carrots back! Carrots that you can bend/are brown/haven’t been peeled should not be served and I’m surprised any chef would allow that to come out of a kitchen let alone for a child.The waiters were lovely, it’s a fun Themed and relaxing place for everyone, kids included. But wouldn’t eat the food again particularly from the chef who looked like he would rather be doing anything else but working there.
