Captain Cod Fish and Chip Shop in Christchurch

My cod & chips have always been nice from here but tonight it was exceptionally tasty! Thick piece of cod & not greasy at all. The chips were great too. No refries! Daughter enjoyed hers too. Thank you :)

We have ordered online from here many multiple of times and I'm always impressed, delivery is fast and so it's always hot. The portions are generous and the food is always as we want it. When they do mess up, it's happened just once when we actually visited the shop, they were apologetic, delivered the missing item and threw in some extra chips. Can't argue about that.

Visited the area and had fish and chips with curry sauce. £9 in total.The fish was very small the batter very greasy. The fish was mushy and not flakey.The chips were tasty but not salt and vinegar and no salt and vinegar was offered just handed the bag all made up! Portion or chips was very small again.Curry sauce, such a simple thing I don’t know what happened. It was more a paste and had formed a skin on it and drier around the edges, maybe making them up in the individual tubs beforehand.

Best fish and chips in this area! Had been using the fry Inn for 8 year's but have just found that place not being great in recent times. Captain cod cooked everything freshly and the chips are some of the best i have ever had. Team very efficient and friendly. Menu was fab! Had plaice,hake and even deep fired bakewell tarts. Love it that you can order scrapes. This is my new favourite chippy.

We’ve been getting our fish and chips (and the odd jumbo sausage) from here for about 2 years now. It is always good quality and enjoyed by all 😋 highly recommended 👍

I've tried this place 3 times now. Once for just chips, which to be fair were quite tasty hence trying it two more times. 2nd time the chips were good again but the cod was over cooked. Third time (last night), 25% of the chips were over cooked, I guess they came from two batches, although my wifes chips looked fine. I'm not sure if it was Cod or rubber I was eating, so much so it ended up going to the dogs.

First time ordering here, and I'm glad I did. I made a mistake with the order and contacted them and they got back to me straight away and corrected it! Food arrived on time, and was lovely. The only little thing I'd say is the food could've been kept heated as it wasn't that warm when we ate it (straight away) but it will not stop me ordering again! For the service and the food 10/10

First time I visited Captain Cod . Fish n chips were great and it is was offer night. Definitely will return.

Delicious home made fishcake with plenty of fish in it. Quick, friendly and helpful service. Spotlessly clean working and cooking areas. Reasonable prices. Delivery if you need it

Great chip if you like them crunchy and with colour.Fish was also cooked beautifully again with good colour and texture to the batter.Took a bit longer than I was expecting but clear this is a popular spot. 20min wait for food but worth the wait.Cheesy chips with BBQ and bacon was a hit.
