Sunday dinner for 2 a wine and another drink, nearly £70! No question the location is lovely and sitting out on the decking was lovely in the summer sun, but the roast dinner was very fatty (lamb) with a huge bone so not a lot of meat, potatoes reheated and cauliflower cheeee and gravy to share…overall way to expensive for what you actually get. I would suggest removing things like the truffle in the cauliflower cheese as unnecessary and too overpowering and increase the one carrot and one parsnip on the plate and lowering the price. Also the discretionary tip added of 12% was not a nice touch as we were not even asked if we were happy to pay it. This meal didn’t warrant nearly £70!!

From the moment we entered the bar, all the staff were attentive and friendly. I was lucky enough to be part of the Fullers award event and was very spoilt.Staff were on hand and very congratulatory. It was a relaxed but formal atmosphere and the food was amazing! My husband and I stayed the night in the ferndown room and the room was done impeccably. The attention to detail was beautiful as were the views. We didn’t want to leave.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and were so apologetic when the fire alarm went off during the night! They handled it brilliantly and we know the procedure works!Thank you all again for making day so special and for being a lovely. First class chefs!!!!

The menu isn't extensive and when we went for my birthday on Sunday there were so many things off the menu - all roasts, chicken and pork- my partner ended up ordering fish and chips as there wasn't much other meat on offer. Would think carefully before going again. Very disappointed!

We had a meal at the Bear of Burton and ordered 3 plant based shepherds pies and one pan fried lemon peppered chicken breast. The shepherds pies were served in a small ramekin which comprised the whole meal. The chicken breast was served mainly with a garlic slaw garnish. There were no vegetables . Most places serve a meal with vegetables. The sides were ÂŁ4.00 each that you would need to make up an adequate meal on top of the already expensive dish. We had to wait at least three quarters of an hour for a minimal serving in a sparsely occupied restaurant. I am giving one star for the ambience and decor and one star for the flavour of the small portions. We will not return unless things change with the menu. I would not recommend this place.

Very pleasant lunch with a 95 yr old lady. The staff were most helpful and engaging . The resturant was an elegant change from outings to garden centres . The food was just right not to large for smaller appetites and well presented as well as being "a cut above" even the china , napery and cutlery were noted.! Thank you for a delightful interlude. Especial thanks to staff for treating us as honoured guests rather than a couple of old biddies.

Great weekend away. Gorgeous room with nice little details, excellent breakfast including vegan options. Staff were welcoming and were really understanding even though I spilt coffee all over the floor when leaving (really sorry everyone)We are going to return soon. The location was great with lots of things nearby from historical attractions, great gyms, fast food and great restaurants.5 stars all the way!

Good food and well presented. Meal could have been a little warmer but all our different choices were delicious. Pleasant relaxed surroundings. Outside seating area. Parking.

Really cosy atmosphere, food is really good, fresh and properly sourced/prepared.A little more expensive than your average full English (this is what I ordered), however you get what you pay for and was worth it.Esthetic from the fire to the wall decorations is beautiful and rustic/country looking. Friendly attentive staff and very fast service. The menu has a good selection of items if you have dietary preferences such as organic etc.

We had a real great evening here tonight. The waiter was friendly and attentive - recommended a great white wine to go with the hake special which we both had and was honestly incredible. Lovely place lovely vibes

Wonderful hotel. Staff were polite and friendly, and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent and choice of gins and wines was great. The room was clean and well furnished; the coffee machine was a nice touch. We’ll definitely stay again.
