Admiral Benbow in Cornwall

The pub and its owner, Chris, are eccentric and entertaining! A delightful stopover in Penzance. It's too easy to empty a pint without realizing you're drinking because you can't stop looking around at the nautical artifacts and mementos. The official pub dog, Admiral Sir Cloudsey Shovell, is a charmer and insists on being stroked since feeding him is not permitted. (Can't let him get too chonky!)

Really lovely old pub full of atmosphere and quirky spaces. I've only given it 3 stars because they forgot my order when serving me and two others with dinner! Landlord, who's a lovely guy, apologised and gave me a complimentary glass of wine and the food was great when it came but by that time my friends had almost finished theirs....

Chilled out on a Sunday. Didn’t eat but the Bloody Mary was fab!! Great pub 👍

A really nice pub with very much a "local pub" atmosphere, but at the same time very welcoming and nice staff. Staff were really friendly and the beer was really nice. I didn't get chance to eat there, so I can't rate the food. Next time I'm in the area, which I intend to be at some point, although I dunno when, I'll definitely be back.

Lovely old pub with a quirky layout and theatrical ship decor! Food was decent pub food but gastropub this ain't. Also they were woefully understaffed and the poor server was efficient but stressed.

Very good experience, booked a table for Saturday night for 4. Nice and cozy atmosphere, very good service (especially considering there’s a huge shortage of staff). The food was very good, tried the charcuterie platter to start which I would recommend. Shared between 2 and was perfect to have while waiting. Then tried the Hake special and a pizza. Both were cooked excellently and tasted lovely. Friendly waiter and overall a lovely experience.

Delicious food and fantastic atmosphere, it is a truly beautiful and unique pub! Super cosy and totally brings you back to 16th century pirate era. One star down because on our way out the landlord made a really rude joke about me being foreign which honestly was completely unnecessary, we were in a great mood and now I’m nothing but really upset :(

A really great pub with a unique feel, the historic nautical artifacts in this pub date far back and are truly worth seeing. Chris the pub landlord and his dog were particularly welcoming. A really good selection of bitters and lagers.

Food was amazing, and the pub is a must visit place especially if you love pirates

Super picturesque and definitely a must visit in Penzance - 400 yrs of history (allegedly!) and a random collection of maritime artifacts that certainly look like they were accumulated throughout that time. Super cozy and service extremely kind and attentive which is the reason for my rating.I actually was not a fan of the food, sadly. My pizza was a simple margarita but so much oregan took the flavour of everything else away. Would also recommend a pint over a glass of wine :)Very loud as well but fun, lively and not obnoxious loud. Definitely worth seeing if you are in Chapel St.Another advantage is they open late for Penzance and aren’t fuzzy about reservations, unlike every other place in Chapel St…
