Absolutely loved this place, the beers are on another level. The staff are most welcoming to make it even better.

Brilliant hidden gem. With a fantastic selection of Belgian beer. With correct glasses, you won't find anywhere else. That's my shoe above the bar as a deposit for a authentic Kwark glass. Brilliant.

We visited last September, and I was very eager to return. The pot of mussels with Thai sauce is fabulous. At £20 it could be argued a little expensive, but there are a lot in the large pot, and they are excellent quality. It would be nice to have bread included rather than an additional charge. I recall the menu has a price for 'extra bread', which implies you get some, but we were charged £3.50. I think that was the charge for 'mixed bread', rather than the £2.50 'extra bread' ... but looking at the online menu, there is only mention of a Bread Basket (@ £3.50) ... perhaps the beer was stronger than I thought! On that score, the beers are also great, although they did run out of the draught blonde on a Friday (!) The alternative small pot of mussels is quite small, and so a little annoying there is no medium ... however, we shared some of the large, as did the table next to us 😀We had waffles (with honeycomb) on our last visit, which I also greatly enjoyed ... but filled up with bread this time!Highly recommended to book. The downstairs is quite small, and they didn't appear to open upstairs (maybe low season/staff numbers). Dogs are also allowed, but only downstairs. I would definitely come again.

A really good experience overall,Bought the De Konnick, Boon (Raspbery) and Delirium lagers to start with, and then ordered the Beer Soaked Moules, Vegan Burger and the Hakezoost which were all sublime. Really hearty food, followed by the waffles.Great atmosphere. Definitely make sure you book in advance.

We came especially for the variation of mussels. I had the Thai style and we also got the chorizo one. They were delicious! We chose the small portions as it was quite filling when soaking the bread in the soup. It came with sweet potato chips which were very nice and not too oily. We did encounter a problem with one portion of the mussels we had ordered. Most of the shells hadn't opened which is not safe to eat, so we had to order an alternative. We ordered the beetroot tarte tatin which was tasty but the vegan pastry was very thick, dry and hard.

Incredible muscles and the best selection of beer I’ve ever seen in the UK ( and I live in London). We came back 3 times during our holiday and it was wonderful every time!

Excellent service, the Staff really work hard and our waitress was brilliant and entertaining. Good Covid-19 awareness and following all the guidelines. Like that they ask every customer as soon as they enter to sanitize their hands. Food was tasty and was recommended. Great selection of beers and fantastic ambience . Can recommend

As always, Five categories out of Five.Atmosphere 4/5 - The classical German Bier Huis vibe is nice, quaint and friendly. The location is tucked down a side street not on the main strip but is worth seeking out.Service 4/5 - The staff are incredibly friendly and are always on hand if you need a top up of food or drink. The bar is dog friendly and the staff will happily grab a bowl of water for any four legged companions.Food/Drink 5/5 - Food is absolutely brilliant, a superb recreation of German cuisine with all of the usual favourites. The Vegetarian and Vegan options (yes there are options) are very generously portioned and very tasty, if a little cluttered on the plate. The beer menu is off the charts and comes across as a tad overwhelming at first. However it is worth closing your eyes and taking a leap!Price 3/5 - Food is very reasonable for the size of portion and quality of the dishes. If you are a desert lover, the Waffles are a must! Beer can get a tad on the expensive side if you are planning a few pints, however the experience is well worth it!Overall it is tough to fault The Bier Huis, just a few little points taking it to a 4/5. Definitely worth going for a treat!
