Choak's Pasties in Cornwall

We love their pasties, by far the best in town as made in small batches on site using excellent quality meat and veg. They are chunky and have a home made essence to them. Not cooked from frozen like other places.

I have a long history with Choaks. My father was born in Cornwall, and said Choaks was the best pasty in the country. He bought me one 4 years ago, and it truly was a masterpiece. Salty, beefy, and everything a pasty should be. It became a tradition to get a Choaks (as opposed to any other pasty) each time we returned to Cornwall. However, on our last trip, this year, boy… what a change. The pasties were too salty, the pastry was bad, and some of them were (god forbid) crimped on the top... I just wanted a taste of home. An old friend to come back to in my time of need - only to find they had spent too much time in Plymouth. It tasted like a warm beer, like badly shelled crabmeat, like jam on top of the cream in a scone.Truly a disaster…

Best pasties I have ever doused anywhere

Very poor pasties. Soft pastry, over salty. Overcooked sausage rolls. Disappointing.

Pretty disappointing.Went in for a pasty as the triple signage outside wine me over.Pretty shocking service, I think some people need to just find jobs they actually enjoy.Had the chicken and red onion pasty.No red onion.Terrible pastry - undercooked, thin and greasy.All in all felt like a waste of money. The seagull in the harbour seemed to enjoy the half pasty it got thrown though so there's a positive.We're off to Gear Farm, hear they are the best.

Not a fan. We shared two types - beef and veggie. Both were very salty. My wife gave up on both after two bites. The pastry is relatively delicate (personally I prefer something more robust).

These are my favourite vegetarian pasties. Great filling, very tasty & lovely pastry, not at all greasy or flaky which goes perfectly with the filling.

We tried pretty much every other pasty place in Falmouth and sadly Choaks comes in last place.Poorly crimped, not seasoned well (over salty in some areas, no salt in others), too much overcooked potato and hardly any meat.Will not be coming back until the recipe is improved.Make sure you add more meat, more evenly seasoned, and improve your crimping technique.

l bought 5 medium pasties from the falmouth shop on thursday morning, 9/9/21. ordered the day before so they would be fresh for journey home to kent. gave them to my neighbours and all eat them in front of each other. too say the comments cannot be printed would be a kindness. some thought i'd bought vegan pasties as there was almost no meat and pie's were full of vegtables, some said we get better in tescos. for the price paid and the quality of the pasties bought i most certainly never be buying there again, feel let down, very, very, poor

Choaks is that good I get their pastys by post when I can't get them directly from my home town. I have been a fan of this family run bakery since I was a little boy and its the true taste of home for me.
