Lovely location for a visit, with the flower garland on display. Very knowledgeable and friendly guides. The tea room is large and has a good selection of cakes, including gluten free. Dogs are allowed in many of the areas on the estate and it is very dog friendly. The walk down to the quay is quite steep, there is a volunteer-driven bus up and down if needed. Disabled parking is right by the house.

I enjoyed my visit to Cotehele but do feel more could be done with the buildings at this property compared to other national trust sites that I have visited. The staff were knowledgable and the great hall display was interesting. This property specialises in their garden so we will re-visit later in the year as winter is not the best time to view the garden.

Cotehele mill, quay and house are all national trust. The house has a lot to look at, they love there tapestry's here and gardens have bits to explore. The walk to the quay is all down hill and quite steep (which means you have to go back up).The quay has an information centre and a tea room plus plenty of walks and is very tranquil, you can again walk to the mill which has loads of information has some craft shops and a bakery. We had to rescan our national trust cards here so don't know if it's separate to the house. If you can't manage the walk then a mini bus is available and our driver David was fantastic and a fountain of knowledge.Take the time here to explore as there is so much to see and do. It's a lot bigger than we expected.

So interesting! Really beautiful walk from the house via the Chapel. Volunteers greeted us with a big smile, very helpful. It was a rainy day but still great to look at the living museum. Will be amazing when they get the waterwheel up and running again!

Lovely National trust house. Large grounds to walk through, although when you walk down, you have to walk back up again. Luckily the tearoom does a reviving cream tea. Also a delicious pasty. There is a mill but they're not milling flour, although there was a great lady baking rock cakes and scones, which were the lightest I've ever tasted. Great day out.

Did not have much time and need to walk the dog so popped over to Cotehele to walk the dog. Walked along the waterfront and took a few photos. Took a few photos and enjoyed myself. There is also a circular walk for the dog. Did not visit the garden or the house, this time, as I had the dog; but have visited them in the past. Plan on visiting them again soon for the holidays. Something to look forward too.

I went in search of beautiful grounds and gardens to spend a relaxing Sunday morning reading and meditating and found an ideal place in Cotehele. The estate is extensive, with areas of grass and mature trees to walk through without needing to pay the entrance charge. However, once through the entrance you can choose to explore the buildings or flower gardens, pick apples in the orchards (in September) or visit the second hand book shop, gallery, gift shop or café. There were lots of children excitedly exploring the grounds - although there was plenty of room for all and I was largely undisturbed in the cut flower garden. Just wish I lived nearer!

What a stunning place to explore! I could just sit in the beautiful garden for hours. Very helpful volunteers dotted about the house who answered your questions about the place quite readily. My only complaint would be about the restaurant. I felt the food wasn't worth the money and had a very basic menu. I would definitely visit again, but give the restaurant a miss.

Beautiful gardens. The orchards are a joy to behold. Beautiful views, meadow flowers being visited by bees & butterflies. The pond is alive with tadpoles, dragon & damsel flies & water lillies add to the beauty. lovely place to enjoy peace & quiet & appreciate the joys of nature. Magical!

This is in fact a holiday cottage. Everything you could need. Very comfy and very quiet. We had a lot of rain the week we stayed but it did not diminish our holiday. National Trust staff and volunteers were a joy to spend time with and made us feel so welcome. Can't praise them enough.Lovely walks from the doorstep. Nice walk to the pubs in Calstock. Also various walks up to Cotehele house and its beautiful gardens. There is a Potter who has a workshop behind the cottage and he is definitely worth a visit.Oh and mustn't forget Dusty, the local cat, he will appreciate any treats that comes his way.We definitely will stay here again.
