Fryer Tucks Cafe in Cornwall

Good quality fish & chips at the price I'd expect for Padstow. Nicest curry sauce I've had as well. Fast service even when there's a queue down the road. Some parking & a few benches outside.

Disgusting food place, forgot half the food so had to drive back. Rude staff, not even an apology. I dread to think what a small portion would be when a large portion is barely anything. When you pay almost £100 for food you expect it to be of good quality and size, a jumbo sausage was basically a Richmond sausage and the chicken burgers look as though they’ve been pinged in a microwave with a Lidls bun. No salad or sauce. Please AVOID.

I have coeliac disease, and was unable to eat from this fish and chip shop, as the gluten free menu comprised of one item (1x small de-battered cod), enjoying a meal at the lovely pub down the road. Unfortunately, the rest of the family were not as lucky. Paying around £100 for the tiny portions, soggy fish, watery curry sauce, and Lidi burgers, will not be using this place again.

Worst fish n chips I've ever had budget beyond budget the portions are as if they where expecting the borrower's!!they forgot part of the order the curry sauce had raisens in it & had a definate hint of pot noodle about it the large fish ordered X5 seemed to be a family of battered stickle backs. Not usually one to leave negative reviews.Prices for cod and chips isn't far off those of Rick Stein's establishment down in Padstow. Soggy batter on the fish, chips weren't crispy or fluffy. They'd only been open 20 minutes and we were the only one's there!Rather than making a quick buck from passing visitors, try and offer better quality for sensible prices and people might come back next year?

Fryer tucks is open 16:30-20:30, I wish they were open longer as the queues were so long! I understand this is just because everyone's flocked to Cornwall for holidays this summer though.After a very long wait in the queue we got our fish and chips, £9.20 each and very generous portions!Fish and chips were a little oily. Tasted nice though and a popular place in St Merryn.

Stopped by here on my travels just before closing but the staff still rustled up some amazing food.I saw a few negative reviews about prices and portions being different to what they expect back home but I can’t see what the fuss is about.Paid £11.25 for a beautiful price of cod, more chips than I could eat in a week, a portion of mushy peas and two pickled onions.Whilst it does seem pricey compared to back home for a lot of people, this place doesn’t get the year round custom that your local gets in your home town. It’s priced accordingly and its more than reasonable for the local area.As for portion sizes…if you think the portions are small, you’re eating way too much.Cod was nice and light, yet fulfilling. The chips were some of the best I’ve ever tried. The mushy peas just topped it all off.And now I’m writing this with self induced heartburn from eating pickled onions.Enjoy 👌

I'll start by saying this place isn't cheap. Don't be fooled by its modest look. Prices are elevated (compared to my locals up North). Fish and chips and curry sauce came in at over £10. Chips were sweet and fluffy. They were decent but the fish, well, I found it to be small with more batter than fish (hence the lost star). Big queue on arrival but service was quick.

Passing on way to our holiday cottage we bought F&C for 4. The service was rapid and nice, the fish was very good but the chips were outstanding, the best chips I've had in years. Some crispy, not too fatty, firm. sweet tasting, great potato, absolutely scrumptious and near perfect (I have never reviewed a chip before!)

We were recommended this as the best fish and chips around and we were so glad of the recommendation. The staff were so efficient and so quick... no waiting around at all. The food was just fabulous and we can't wait to come back. Thank you. 😊
