Very unhappy. As a table we all had to have the same food to "make life easier for the chef". A few of us had to sacrifice and have dishes we didn't like to keep the general consensus of the group happy. I couldn't even have a 4 course option off of the same menu as the 6 courses. No one was transparent about this odd service and only when we came to order did they mention it. Why give out two menus if you can only have dishes off one of them? I heard numerous tables on the night all confused by the same problem as the waitress did not explain before hand. I could go to mcdonalds and order multiple dishes and it wouldn't be a problem. I would be frustrated if this were the policy at a 2 star restaurant let alone a 5 star. I wont ever be returning as the price was ridiculously extortionate as well.

Some of the best food in Cornwall. The taster menu is to die for, and all staff understand the menu. They explain the flavours and wine choice if you've gone for that too. A little on the pricy side, but well worth the extra expense. Restaurant is cosy, warm and welcoming.

I had a wonderful evening at Kota, we had the 6 course tasting menu (plus amuse bouche and petit fours). The whole experience was just fantastic - every mouthful was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, the staff really attentive and polite. I've already booked to go back for my birthday!

Had to wait a few months to get a reservation on a date that suited us but well worth the wait! Deliciously innovative food, lovely ambience, very courteous staff and great location!

As always a lovely experience. A very intimate restaurant with top quality food and staff. Either a set menu of 2 or 3 courses or a taster menu of 4 or 6 courses. All the dishes are exquisitely prepared and the flavour combinations are superb. Highly recommended

What a great experience! We had the tasting menu and it was excellent, with all the flavours and textures in the dishes it was a truly gastronomic experience par excellence. The serving staff were very pleasant and their knowledge of the dishes served and the wines was top notch. We will visit again before too long and therefore highly recommend Kota

We stayed for three nights in room 2. We ate there two nights out of the three. Our room was cosy, loads of towels and mini shower gels etc. Bedding was lovely, we had all the tea and coffee items and the fridge had milk and water . Our meals at the restaurant were fantastic, we opted for the set menus both nights. Food was lovely, service was fantastic, staff were attentive, we didn't have to wait long to order drinks and food. Breakfast was at Kota Kai and was great, again staff there were lovely. We cannot fault our stay and it was made the perfect break by meeting Jude and getting to have a chat with him...what a lovely man. He should be proud of his restaurants .

Absolutely outstanding food and service. We had the 8 course tasting menu and every dish was amazing. Not the cheapest but an incredible experience and I'd wholeheartedly recommend. We had scallops, salmon, hake and beef and each mouthful was divine. Can't wait to go back.

We had a magical evening at Kota on the last night of our holiday. The tasting menu was spectacular and the waiting staff friendly and knowledgeable. The food was incredible value for how delicious and fresh everything was and the highlight of the evening of was meeting Jude, the man himself! He was very generous with his time. Extra special highlights of the menu included the fresh oysters and the raspberry sorbet. I can’t understand why this place hasn’t got a Michelin star. We’ll be looking for a reason to come back to Porthleven!

Loved following Jude on Great British Menu, so was chuffed to get the chance to visit his restaurant last night. Omg 😳 the food was amazing. We had the 6 course tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were very welcoming, polite and informative. Cannot wait to go back. Thank you ☺️☺️
