Road works currently conceal this well known lovely cafe style seafood restaurant. Bright light and airy with high tables and stools provide good fun and informal settings. Friendly staff bustle with delicious homemade fish specials and freshly prepared sides such as samphire.

The best seafood restaurant we have ever been. Dogs friendly. Staff is amazing. Food is just 💯 wonderful!

Came here for a late lunch and it was great! Lovely selection of local seafood on the menu and friendly and attentive service. The crab sandwich had generous amounts of crab in a local Turkish bread, grilled mackerel with a punchy horseradish cream, and the chowder which was delicious and perfect to warm us up on a rainy day. Only docking a star because the Korean fried haddock special wasn't very crispy...maybe it was meant to be like that, but when I think of Korean fried anything I imagine super crispy! No room for dessert but the coffees were lovely to finish

Overall good place for a tapas lunch. Menu was extensive with lots of local seafood choices. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. Open kitchen and galley style seating. The salt and pepper squid was excellent. The crab nachos a little under seasoned and lacking something to lift it. Scallops good in themselves but the garnish was under flavoured for me. The coffee served is a very dark roast.

Loved this place it has a great vibe. It's only small but has seating outside as well as inside. Stopped by for a crab sandwich which was delicious. However the menu had plenty on offer as small plates which looked really appetising. Hoping to return and try a range of other dishes. Service was excellent. A must visit when in Newlyn.

Delicious food! Had the special (smoked haddock and brown crab arancini) and the crab nachos! The staff were great, dog friendly inside and out so our pup got lots of attention which he loved. You can't book but we only waited a few minutes until we were seated, visited a Saturday lunchtime.

Really nice food and good service. We had the scallops, crab meat salad and beer battered local white fish. All 3 dishes were done to perfection. All the staff were polite and friendly. We went at 5:30pm to avoid the queue.

After queuing for around 45 minutes on a Sunday. We ordered most of the menu and for the price, it was a good deal.My personal favourite was the lobster special and the mussels, the sauce that the mussels were in was great! We spent £150 between 4 of us which included most items on the menu, 2 specials and a bottle of wine.Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

We happened upon this place driving back from an adventure (thanks to it being on the main road!), it looked full but we pulled in and went to ask if they could squeeze us in anyway. Sure enough there was space for us. We even had a choice of table. The staff were super friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was SO GOOD. Super fresh, flavour combos were great - a bit of classic and a bit of the unexpected. I am not a fan of all the seafoods but found several things on the menu I liked the sound of.I would suggest you definitely give it a go even if you're unsure! We ordered Lobster (special), crab nachos, prawns, grilled samphire and some chips and would highly recommend all of these dishes. The crab nachos, not sure where to start, they were one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life... I have dreamt about them! 😂Super place, fast friendly service, fresh flavourful food really well cooked.Thank you Mackerel Sky!

Come for the food, enjoy the experience!+ Flavours are really interesting+ Simple, tasty, straightforward dishes+ The team are utterly fantastic! The kitchen staff are amazing+ It’s open on a Sunday!! 💪🏻+ Going for a small dish tapas vibe is brilliant+ Everything is tasty, beautifully cooked, fresh and the specials are on point+ Lovely little inside and outside space+ Really fair pricing, always heavy tips for the great work- Perhaps a non-alcoholic beer option?- It is by a busy main road (but you soon forget this with the quality of food)Sure sometimes you might have to queue but when the food is this good who cares?! Soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the experience, be welcomed in and treated to a culinary delight in the heart of a fishing village.N.B. I’ve been 5 times already in the past 3 weeks at the time of writing this and it hasn’t got old!
