Good clean pub staff friendly and a good selection of beers and ales

Fab pub with a chilled vibe, free monkey nuts! Lovely friendly staff and a wonderful quiet place to chill out and enjoy a glass or two :)

Ha ha. Not the old sawdust bar of old which stocked a full range of ales from different breweries. Now a Skinners owned bar stocking it's full range of ales. Friendly staff. Is it me or are craft ales overpriced. I can't say they are any better than a good local ale. Well done guys one of my favourite pubs.

General good vibes and bands on some nights. At the back they have a selection of craft beers which are better than the brewery's ones (sorry)

Fantastic traditional pub with a large selection of Skinner's ales and an even larger selection of guest ales. Sawdust on the floor, fantastic. They have live music too.

This is seriously one of the greatest pubs in the world. Bartenders were young, smart, kind, and both completely delightful. I could bring my own food as the kitchen was closed. The crowd and the ambiance were as beautifully typical, animated, and unpretentious as one would hope for in such a place with a shingle reading Old Ale House. Wonderful!!!

Quaint old ale house in the centre of Truro.A quirky thing here is to help yourself to a handful of unshelled monkey nuts, crack them open and then once consumed Chuck the empty husks on the floor.There’s a good selection of drinks on offer.

Great selection of real ales, all served by knowledgeable and welcoming staff. This place is likely to suffer from it's own success as space and seating are at a premium...although I'm not sure that there isn't another floor upstairs, but being disabled, this would be out of reach for me.Quite amazingly they allow you to bring in outside food and although one review on here mentioned 'not smelly fish and chips', on my visit a table of 3 had exactly that and nobody seemed to bother them? Maybe the staff were just to busy?Be aware that CAMRA members are entitled to 10% discount on the home brewed selection. Free WiFi. No car park.Highly recommended.UPDATE: Apologies for the fish and chips meals. Somehow I have managed to confuse 2 entirely different establishments...only one of which is TOAH in Truro. So possibly the other commentators comment on this food source, as being not acceptable, is the correct one. I must have a check up for my mental abilities?

For a nice pint of Skinners beer this is the place to go, it's very casual, relaxed and family friendly. We often go in with out son who is now 7 months old and the staff is very helpful with any needs you may have. My husband's favorite thing abiut this ale house thst they supply you with peanuts in the shell you can enjoy with your pint. (reminds him of bars back home in the US). You can bring your own food to eat and on weekends there is normally live music.
