Fantastic location and live music on Sunday afternoons creates a good atmosphere. Variable staff - some super friendly and helpful, several made us feel like we were a bit of an inconvenience. Very limited choice if you have dietary requirement (nut allergy). The food was tasty - bit overpriced - but well cooked.

Such an incredible array of plates of food. The atmosphere is wonderful, looking out across the bay, the smell of the sea accompanying every dish. But for all the fresh catches on the regularly changing menu, the short rib crumpet will blow your mind. I could happily order 4 of those and be done for the day. But the fries! I would travel a long way for those. By far the best fries I've ever experienced. The good is so photo worthy but I was far too busy enjoying it to think about taking a picture.

Walked in to Pilchards when unable to get a table in our accommodation to have a surprisingly excellent meal. Inventive ingredients, superbly fresh cod, tapas sized dishes, friendly staff and a chef who spent time telling us about foraging for some of the different seaweeds, made the whole meal delightful. A stunning location too. A perfect end to the day.

Ate here in the summer. Was really nice food and a not too shabby view highly recommend visiting.

Staying 60 seconds’ walk away from Pilchards and (in reality) fluking a walk-in table last night, we were utterly gobsmacked by the food here. The attention to detail is superb, all the little accompaniments and execution of the main elements was just faultless. If their miso-spiced scallops were more widely known we’d have a bigger problem than New York during the crack epidemic. The John Dory was outrageously good as well and they’ve ruined Ambrosia for me forever after experiencing how rice pud can really taste (along with their milk ice cream which was better than anything we had in Florence, where, to be clear, we nearly hospitalised ourselves going so overboard on local gelato). How this place isn’t booked up months in advance is beyond me. Service was great as well: friendly, chatty and a decent bit of banter. There’s a reason we booked in again tonight before we’d finished our starters! Get the scallops and pilchards ready!

Stunning food, great atmosphere, great knowledge from staff. Great restaurant in a pub, superb vision of the sea in the food, if you're looking for seafood tapas this is the place to go, would recommend to anyone. Octopus and Mackerel dishes are awesome

What a feast is made possible at Pilchards! The tapas style menu allows the taste buds a rich variety of flavourful sensations. Our group of four met for lunch and shared pilchards, red gurnard, and scallops, with a variety of vegetable based dips and dishes, the fluffiest focaccia and the tastiest chips ever. We still had space for the "icing on the cake": vanilla rice-pudding with blackberries and gingernut ice cream. This totally exceeded our expectations! We were served by the friendly Pilchards waiting staff and enjoyed the sunny afternoon sitting outside with a view of the sea. I wish we didn't live so far away as we would be regular clients otherwise!

Outstanding food....fresh locally caught seafood in a Superb setting.Fabulous service too. What a treat.

Excellent seafood restaurant with Spanish inspired tapas dishes. If I were to nit pick I could say that some ingredients are reused across different dishes, and some dishes are not served at the perfect temperature. Overall a restaurant with an impressive menu that is very hard to beat anywhere.
