Stopped for lunch on an impulse because, well, you know, St. Ives, seaside, harbour, seafood, the name. We'd seen the place before but not been in. We'd been warned that most places were requiring bookings but they fitted us in immediately on a table for two anyway, maybe worth booking of you're going at a busy time though. We had the seafood chowder (well we had to, really because, you know, St. Ives, seafood etc.). Very tasty and the toasted sourdough bread that accompanied it was perfect: crisp and clean to complement the rich flavours of the chowder.

Pleasant place for lunch! Especially recommend to orders mussels & chips here! To my own surprise they were really good when comparing to the ones I tried in France and Belgium which are famous for cooking them. However, oysters weren’t good, seemed like a waste of money (they were over salted and each costed us 3.5£).

I'm really struggling to give this more than 3 stars which is a shame because of all the reviews we read which was one of the reasons we ate here. The place is big and has a real 'tourist' feel to it. The service was a bit all over the place. We had 6 oysters to start with and they came on a slate plate - by the time we had finished the ice they came on had melted and was all over the table. Nobody cleaned it up so we had to! The seafood chowder was fine. I had fish pie as main and it was good. My husband had the Sole and said it was OK. There was nothing wrong with the whole meal - it was just average.

We had the most amazing meal here, food was incredible. The best meal we have both had in a very long time. Service was impeccable, all needs met with a smile!

We've had a wonderful Sunday lunch after a long walk... We were given a good table without having a reservation (probably lucky as it's a popular place). Honestly, we could have chosen every single dish on the menu - not because we are gluttons ( well, maybe a bit), but they all sounded good, also judging by the plates other diners had. We had the prawns, fried squid, beetroot fritters, seafood chowder, quality fresh bread...(you need to look up the menu really to get an idea how these dishes are prepared with added ingredients, dips etc). All was excellent, fresh and even the last bit of the sauces mopped up with the bread. No room this time for the nice desserts, but we'll be back soon. Oh, and I didn't mention the friendly attentive waiters - they contributed to an excellent relaxed lunch stay at the Seafood cafe. It's not a huge menu, but what there is together with the blackboard specials should be more than enough choice for most appetites, and for me always a sign that the kitchen knows their ingredients and that they are fresh.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, genuinely pleasant staff.Every dish we tried was well-seasoned, fresh and hot. Calamari was perfectly-cooked, ordering which I always consider a gamble.Given the middle-of-the-road pricing, this restaurant provides great value for money.

Very good. Went there twice. Stunning waitress! super efficient and very friendly service too Everything here is 5 stars. Sardines and beef scewers were amazing as are fish cakes and white bait. Scallops are small but tasty, good drink menu too.

Great spot if you have a reservation. The service was excellent and the food and presentation were great.Family friendly, good menu items for everyone in the family.Beer and wine selection is limited but they have good options, even Argentine wine. The location of the restaurant could not be better, though it must be noted that the restaurant does not have WiFi and mobile phone reception is very poor in St. Ives.Overall, a great experience for my family. But remember, book in advance!

Really good value seafood. Very busy so best to book. A lot of walk ins were showed away as they were packed. Bookings still had to be made for after 22:00. Good cocktails well.
