The Basking Shak in Cornwall
Where is The Basking Shak?
🏠 Carne beach, Veryan, Truro TR2 5PF
"Two amazing sandy beaches on the Roseland peninsula Two of the best family beaches on the Roseland peninsula, with fine stretches of sand and rock pools. Walk along the coast and inland to discover the rich wildlife around; it's a butterfly and bird watchers paradise. Take a walk inland behind Carne beach to discover the remains of an iron age settlement sitting at the base of the Beacon, telling the story of how people once lived and worked. On nearby Nare Head are clues to its use in the second work war and Cold War. Up on the coast path you may stumble upon tiny ramshackled 'Mallets Cottage' where you can stop a while to catch your breath, stare out to sea and imagine life in earlier times."

Hands down the best food we have had in Cornwall all week. Fresh and tasty! Vegan options and kids food was as good as the main menu. Loved it!

Absolutely wonderful! From the service as soon as you walk in, to the staff, the food, it was just fantastic! Very helpful and efficient greeter who showed us to our table and noted the vegan note on the booking. He was able to advise what to order on the nut roast and what to swap out. All of the staff were highly attentive. The roast (I had the nut roast and my partner had the beef) was the best roast I’ve ever had! The quality of everything on the plate was incredible. Such a decent price as well for the quality you get.Thank you for such a lovely meal - we cannot wait to come back when you start doing roasts again!

The only good thing about this establishment is the position on the harbour and the waiting staff. It has an open kitchen which allows customers to view .I noticed the extraction fans were in need of cleaning as clearly visible was the grease. I also witnessed a chef/cook peeling potatoes constantly wiping his nose with the back of his hands.Cleanliness and hygiene needs reviewing

Amazing meal for my moms birthday last week. I had the calamari for starter, the hake with butter beans and pesto for main and the child’s ice cream sundae cause I was too full to eat a proper desert 😂 (forgot to take a picture so enjoy a half eaten sundae pic!🤦🏼♀️)

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Sharksfin. 3 adults, 1 granddaughter in a pushchair and 2 Border terriers for lunch and no reservation! No problem, just give me a minute!A little rearranging and a highchair, and we were seated comfortably with a view over the harbour. Nice weather and windows open, friendly and helpful staff.

We managed to get a lunch table. This is a busy restaurant that you always need to make a reservation. The food and service was first rate and reasonably priced for the area. Ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy great food, fabulous view of Mevagissey harbour and the coffee was excellent.
