Unfortunately not at all impressed with our food from here. Our first night in Cornwall and decided to go for fish and chips after a lovely walk on Mawgan Porth beach. You place your order inside and then wait outside to be called for your order once its ready.... over 20 minutes later and we were called. We opened our parcels once back at our accommodation (approx 10 mins later). Our portion of chips were over cooked and hard, no more than 'scrat ends' to be honest, the piece of fish was okay. Small, slightly over cooked. The chicken burger... a large bap with a small, dry chicken burger, absolutely nothing else on it. Now, where we live, you get asked about salad, sauces etc? A real let down. Wish I'd have read previous reviews before visiting.... I notice that the owner has commented previously but it seems not alot has changed. This could be a really great place and get a good reputation if it just got to grips with the basics - come on Blue Fish Bar, your busy season is about to start. I'd love to see you get more good reviews that override the negatives.

What dreadful fish and chips for saying they had only just opened. My daughter was 7th in the queue had to wait half an hour in the cold and drizzle. Nothing ready and wouldn't take phone order! We live 2 minutes away and it was cold and the battered cod was tough and chewy (both cats even turned their noses up at it). 2 fish, a battered sausage and a single portion of small chips £20.25!! Total rip off and am slightly ashamed its affiliated with Mawgan Porth. I'll keep taking my trade to St Columb!

Fantastic traditional fish and chips. Very busy, bit of a wait, but, well worth it

The worst fish and chips I’ve had for years, which is a shame as I love to support local businesses when I’m on holiday or out for the day. The cod was minuscule, dry, overcooked and cannot have been more than 1.5 cm thick. The chips were pretty dismal too, such a disappointment. Left most of the food. Not cheap either. Also only takes cash which is odd during these COVID times. Strongly suggest that you look elsewhere if you’d like to have cod and chips and sit on the beach as we did.

Outrageous! Bank holiday weekend in Padstow and fancied a chippy dinner as we left it a little late coming back from the beach. £30 later for an underwhelming meal which was at the end of a very long queue, next time I’ll get a microwave curry. I’m sure they can do better than ripping off holidayers, limpets and grockles or whatever you want to call them.

The chips are really nice but I'm giving it 5 stars because of the fish. The cod is always perfectly flaky and the batter is crunchy. Not to stolid, not too thin, its just perfect. They even do homemade tartar sauce. If you're nearby and fancy a good feed with a view then this is a great pic!

Can't understand how this has got anything under 5 Stars it is absolutely fantastic and one of the best fish and chip shops in Cornwall you should not miss this one if you go past it do yourself a favour and buy fish and chips every time because they will always be good consistently the best in Cornwall and it also helps that the gentleman Behind the Counter counter is very friendly everything you could hope for with fish and chips with a sea view upon eating these fish and chips you will have realised you have reached the Pinnacle of life. 🐠🍟😋 also deliciously cooked in the all-important beef dripping which is far healthier and absolutely paramount in any fish and chip shop

Fantastic real chips. With gravy, for the inner northerner. Delicious sat on the beach. Visited again August bank holiday 2020. We will call again when in the area. The dog didn't get any.

Delicious traditional cornish Fish n chips value for money.Plus they do kids menu and portion.Kids enjoyed their meal. They have both outside and indoor seating. When you are Meagwan Porth thats the best spot for fish n chips. The view is good outside as you enjoy your meal.Having kids you always need a clean toilet,Blue fish has clean toilet, water and toilet paper handy when you got three kids😁

I’ve been coming here for the last two years where we spend our holiday at Mawgan Porth; we normally eat here as the last dinner before we leave to go home. As always, the portion sizes are worth the price you pay.. two fish cakes and large chips for £6.40 when chips on their own is £2.20 (so for £4.20 you’re getting two fish cakes - £2.10 each). I think the photo below sums up the amount you get. The chips do have their skins on but they’re delicious and cooked to perfection; the fish cakes are delightful and fluffy without being too greasy and the curry sauce.. one of the best I’ve ever had. I will continue to come here every year and will keep ordering the same dish; if you’re in the area I highly recommend trying it out.
