Stopped off for a lunchtime drink. Staff very friendly. Plus points for dog friendly. Pub however looking tired and toilets not very clean. Not sure why there are hundreds of coloured fairy lights everywhere too!!

Not the greatest experience if I'm honest. Went to watch the rugby and there was a decent crowd in but one single barman was never going to be enough. There was just one draft beer on, although some interesting looking lagers in cans.Good views out over the harbour and apparently they do food, although from our experience they (like many other pubs) they struggle to find staff - no food was available last night.

A truly awful experience. The guy at the bar on his own was doing his best to handle drinks phone calls and delivering food to tables. However the menu advertised “hearty” soup and delivered it to us stone motherless cold. After some previous iffy experiences in this establishment it is now on the never to return list. How hard is it to send out hot soup for goodnesses sakes? And hire some bar staff, there’s a uni in town with students looking to make some money.

We enjoyed eating at the Grapes, despite being very busy the food was prompt, hot and tasty. Wasn't taken by the plastic basket it came in but all else was good and staff were friendly.

My wife and I visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon with our three children, along with another couple who also have three children. The pub was sparse, but one person behind the bar was doing his best to cope.We ordered food and waited what felt like an age. Eventually it arrived and all was well. Unfortunately the. manager then appeared (apparently whilst his employee had been increasingly busy, he’d been sitting having an afternoon break with his mother) and complained that one of our children had leant across the table we were sitting at. I’ll say that again for clarity, he complained because one of our children had leant across a table. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be the first to complain if kids were running amok, being noisy and causing chaos but on this occasion, they had the audacity to lean across our table. This complaint happened again for some other reason that escapes me (I’m the first to rebuke my kids for even breathing noisily half of the time so I’m aware of what kids can do) and we took issue with it. To be honest, it felt like a bar manager trying to show off in front of his mum at what he perceived to be low hanging fruit. In reality and sadly, he came across like a sad young man who felt the need to throw his self-perceived weight around against parents and children. If you don’t want kids in there, I totally get that but please make that clear at the outset and don’t take our money.Frankly, this is a woeful experience and avoidable. Hospitality is going through a bad time and behaviour like this leaves a bad taste and when the mums and dads ask us about our weekend and what we got up to, I’ll have no choice but to steer them away from what, based on todays experience is an anti-family establishment.

Not impressed looking at the menu outside saw some suitable food then went inside and was given a different menu which was not so appealing!I just had a tea as I didn't see anything appealing on the 2nd menu and my wife was ordered a sandwich and a soup.The tea was fine but the sandwich was minus the soup and after asking four times we were informed that the soup had not been ordered!I'm not sure what the guy behind the counter thought that I needed a soup spoon for!When the soup finally arrived 45 minutes later it was room temperature!!He informed us that he was hard of hearing but confirming the order would have taken care of that!It's a pity as my Last experience was very positive and the place has great views.Please try to improve.
