The Hidden Hut in Cornwall

Best cheese & onion pasty ever! Once again a delicious, simple meal served with a smile. Such a fab location too

This is a hidden gem as it's name suggests. I had a venison stew and the wife had a fish stew. They were both absolutely delicious and well worth the walk from the road. No indoor seating so you are at the mercy of the elements, but that's added to the experience. The queue was very well managed and service was really quick so there were no lengthy queues when we went there. Sells drinks and deserts too. Well worth a visit.

Still exceptional after all these years. An absolute pleasure to get great quality coffee, hot chocolate and food to take down to the beach. Can be busy so go as early as poss.Update! Went back today for lunch, had a fish and chorizo stew which was as good as a stew can get made even better by eating it on the beach

I first heard about this place via Dawn French on the Table Manners podcast by Jessie Ware. We visit Cornwall regularly but hadn’t come across it before, so this year we made sure not to miss it. The food truly lives up to the hype! We arrived around 2ish and were worried they might have sold out of a couple of dishes, luckily for us there was still plenty left. We ordered the fish stew and venison ragu. The ragu was one of the best we’ve had - full of large pieces of Cornish venison and very flavoursome. The fish stew was also sublime - large pieces of fish, huge mussels and squid. I’ve never had anything quite like it, we will certainly be back on future trips to Cornwall!

Visited a few times when living in Cornwall and it never disappoints, the food is fantastic with fresh ingredients and lovely combination of flavours. The hidden hut has always been busy when we've been so worth going a bit early and taking a walk to Portcatho then coming back for lunch! It's especially busy peak summer tourist season. There's always a range of food for everyone on the menu, I can highly recommend the salt hake stew. We also have the cook book too which you can get on Amazon or from the hut itself where you will find a range of the dishes they serve and more. The rhubarb and ginger ice cream along with their sorbets are ace especially on a hot day. it's located in a beautiful setting with the beach just below the hut and big grassy field surrounding! Definitely worth a visit!

The place is definitely hidden and looks onto a small dog friendly beach. We just had to queue for a parking space at the top car park and walk down a narrow path it took less than 5 minutes, google reckoned 2 minutes but you also need to use two set of stairs one down then straight up again. In the dip it gives you another set of long stairs to get onto the beach. The hut definitely looks like ordinary garden sheds. People are queueing with social distancing and it tooka little while to order. Wooden seats looking like logs are available in front with Seaview. Most people used the grass area behind to eat or tool food down to the beach. We had the Thai King Prawn Dish, Spinach Chickpea Saag with Naanbread and the Sausage Dish. Afterwards we tried the ice cream. All food was amazingly tasty and we will return next time we are in Cornwall. Food was in eco friendly cardboard containers. Toilets are to the right of the food pick up corner.

A real hidden gem, menu changes daily, we had the Chickpea Dhal and the Chilli, both were outstanding. They start serving lunch at 12, I joined the queue at about 11:55 and it still took 40 minutes to get food, so take a book! By the time I was walking back down to the beach with our food, I reckon the queue was probably double the length, so you could well be waiting over an hour, but it is totally worth it!

I would say this is on of Cornwall's little gems.Once you've parked your vehicle go throught the gate and turn left follow the coastal path. To get to the Hidden Hut you will need to go down the steps and then straight up another set, they are a little steep. Once you at the top you will see the Hidden Hut. They have a wide range of food so it caters for almost everyone and its freshly cooked. The staff are really friendly. It can get very busy at lunch times but the food is truly wonderful. There is a small seating area with a couple of tables or you can just choose to sit on the grass and take in the views.
