Great location (St Mawes is a stunning little coastal village). Room design flawless, beds could be better - if you are going to join mattresses together (common practice) then the bed topping should conceal this. Plumbing is noisy, pressured pipes cisterns were heard throughout the night. If you are going to have offices or staff working areas on the same floor as guests ensure noise/talking in the corridors is discreet . Front service staff were polite and professional.Bar staff were short of expectations and missed requests on numerous occasions, basic cocktails were poorly prepared and found wanting.

Only popped in for a drink on the lovely terrace. Staff were so pleasant.

Visited with my family on a trip to Cornwall, and we were very impressed. The service was welcoming & attentive. The views and location are out of this world. St Mawes is very pretty. The decor is relaxing & beautiful. The food was so delicious, I wish I could eat it all again! Compliments to the chef. It was a real treat, every mouthful was more than delicious, and the presentation was perfect. Our children ordered spaghetti bolognese, a simple dish… but wow, I have never seen them enjoy a meal so much. They both said it’s the best food they’ve ever eaten….! Thank you for an incredible meal & welcoming service. We hope to come back one day!

Amazing service from Franco, very impressive knowledge on all things cocktail based.

The service is friendly and good but not as polished as one would expect from a restaurant with a chef with the kudos and history he claims to have. The amuse bouche was simply sublime - a fine mousseline of potatoes with a tiny, tiny piece of battered fish. Regrettably both turned up again in my main dish: monkfish with endive and couscous. This was rather disappointing and frankly a little lazy. One would expect a chef of this calibre to have a little more imagination. The desserts were amazing. The decor is somewhat uninspiring - all reproduction and very predictable. Having said that, the food is on the whole delicious.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in - everything is perfect. The rooms, the views, the service - I couldn’t ask for more! Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sparkling sea was a highlight, as well as gin and tonics in the evening. The beds are huge and very comfortable. I am longing to go back!

Top hotel is a superb location. Excellent service and food. I would not recommend the street-side rooms though, noisy! We should have booked earlier.

Fabulous sea food, great locationThe food was amazing, maybe rather small helpings but beautifully presented. The location is perfect overlooking the harbour, outside and inside seating is available. The service was top class. It was though on the overpriced side of normal

Amazing food, if there was 6 stars I would give the starters and mains 6. The desserts not as good. I had cheese and biscuits but didn't like the biscuits too strong tasting they didn't complement the cheese. The menu is a set price 3 courses. Drinks are expensive. Wine prices were varied, we had excellent wine at reasonable price. I would go again tomorrow, if I could afford to

We have been coming to Idle Rocks for 5 years now, the views from the terrace always amaze us, the staff are very accommodating as I have to say Tracy made breakfast even better this year, she is worth her weight in gold as she was always checking if we were ok, if we needed anything. The staff are amazing anyway and always helpful and friendly, the only couple of little moans I have is my mothers mobility isn’t great lately and I have had to take kit with us so she could shower safely, I think if these adaptations were available if needed rather than having to pack more items in the car this would be a help. Also I can take my dog to stay but can’t take her on the terrace when I want to have a little drink in the afternoon, I understand that when eating this is a different matter but maybe you could allow it at the one end of the terrace, still love this dog lace and have booked for next year.
