The Old Ferry Inn in Cornwall

We arrived for Sunday lunch which was booked with a £50 deposit last month and followed up by us a week before. We turned up on time to be told that they hadn’t received our booking and they were full. We showed our booking email and there was just a shrug of the shoulders by James the manager. Well you can have a table in the bar was his response. Which amounted to three small round tables for 5 people in a crowded bar where people were constantly waiting to buy drinks or pay. We cannot review the food because we left but the service was dreadful. Thanks The Old Ferry Inn for the £22 waisted on the ferry crossing from Fowey. We will make sure we recommend your services to as many people as we can!

I would give even more than 5 stars, the only reason for the mere 4 ones is my petty intention to keep this place as secret as it deserves, for it is a little hidden piece of paradise and should stay so.The service is more than excellent, Nikita is welcoming and thoughtful and the cook is a pure magician...

A fantastic location for a get away, with amazing views. Our room was newly refurbished and the decoration and style was very well done. The pub has its own distillery which we enjoyed tasting and the food was very good.

From the moment we arrived we felt like we were coming to visit friends. James met us at the door and were taken to our room. What a room with the most beautiful view across to Fowey and down the estuary. Our room was clean and comfortable with tea/coffee hot chocolate and bottled water. Big white fluffy bath towels for our use on the bed. In the bathroom there was shower gel shampoo conditioner hand soap and hand cream for our use. We went down for our meal and chose to eat in the bar area we weren’t disappointed. Our food was delicious the service was excellent and the banter with Pete the barman and James was hilarious and entertaining we had a great evening. Breakfast was delicious to served by a lovely lady called Kathleen we again felt we were meeting an dear friend. An good choice for breakfast nothing was to much trouble. We decided to eat in again our second night in the bar and again was served with absolutely delicious food. I also sampled the home made gin brewed on the premises very good. We had a great weekend the hospitality from everyone was great and we will definitely go back again soon

Stayed in a room which I presume was above the bar. Very noisy. The dining room was very cold and this spoilt our meal. No electric in the morning due to power cut, which I fully appreciate was not the inn's fault. No hot drink. No shower. Stale bread and yoghurt were a poor breakfast. Overall very poor.

Most amazing vegan food we have had in Cornwall for a long time, all workers and chefs were so friendly. Couldn’t do enough especially for when parties have different dietary requirements! Highly recommend for all!!

One of the best bar and restaurants on the river. Wonderful staff , great beer, food and charming interior. Glad to have made your acquaintance after the ' Hall Walk'.

The hotel was okay, but I thought it was a little overpriced comparing to other hotels in the area. Sloe gin the room was a good touch. Interesting place, with character, good breakfast. The dinner food was unremarkable and quite expensive. But excellent cosy atmosphere, fireplace and hot wine.

We'd heard good things about this place, whilst staying in Looe, so decided to give it a go. Surprised that when booking we had to give a £10 deposit per person, but I guess that's how things are going nowadays with people no showing. We arrived, but it wasn't a warm welcome (although polite), ordered drinks and were taken up to the restaurant. No atmosphere, local radio playing and no mood music, and it didn't feel right for the prices they were charging. The view was good however. We had the three meat mixed roast which was expensive for what it was, but must say only good (could have been better as meat was dry) and we enjoyed it. The vegetables were excellent. Service was extremely slow disappointingly, and when asking for the bill we had to wait nearly 15 minutes (it wasn't busy) and in the end went up to the till. I was told the price and I duly paid, but thought it was expensive (we didn't have wine) although it wasn't until we got outside that my wife told me there was a 12.5% discretionary tip warning in TINY letters at the bottom of the menu, that I subsequently extrapolated had been included in the total. Very disappointing on two counts; firstly it wasn't discretionary, and secondly; perhaps you could pay your staff more than the minimum wage and not expect the customer to subsidise what they're worth. It's highly unlikely we'll be back as we were on honeymoon, but wouldn't recommend you unfortunately on the basis of this review.

Amazing location, amazing food and amazing staff. Had a lovely roast here and will be returning very soon. Highly recommended ☺️ Would suggest parking in Fowey and getting the ferry over for a lovely ride on the estuary. Great for food or even just a beer with a great view. Couldn’t fault it ❤️
