The Russell Inn in Cornwall

One of only two drinking establishments in Polruan, friendly, pool table(50p) food available, we had 12"meat feast pizza takeaway £12 enjoyable.

Excellent, simple food and fab beer in a real proper pub by the harbour. Lovely friendly crowd too!

The Lugger - the other pub in Polruan - was shut {it was January} and would have lunched here but no food being served. Took the foot ferry to Fowey instead.

Good beer, nice pub...the only pub in Cornwall so far to stock the Cornish cordial called Shrub! Although the lady said she didn't know anything about it, and had never sold any!

Nice pub one Street back from the water. We were hoping for lunch, but food wasn't being served until 6pm midweek (not sure if that's normal or due to covid / staff shortages). However the landlord was helpful and suggested the cafe next door, who deliver to your table in the pub!Good drink choice, and dog friendly.

Value for money but mainly fried food with no vegetables. Pizzas are poor quality and the cooking was inconsistent on the three occasions we visited. The beer was excellent.

The Russell has long been the locals' pub in Polruan but now seems to be catering for a wider clientele as the Lugger is so often full due to Covid restrictions. And good luck to them! The food is I guess pretty basic - pizzas, burgers etc, but it's really tasty and carefully prepared, and very well priced. The staff are all lovely and nothing is too much trouble. They don't do bookings and will always try to fit you in. They really deserve to thrive and continue to offer an excellent alternative to their more famous neighbour, especially as they do community events as well, such as folk singing, quiz nights etc. Only complaint is that their lights are a bit bright!

Unfortunately due to covid we were unable to spend time in this establishment yet their take out food was good and a decent sized menu. If you have the fish & chips the larger portion is huge! So make sure you're hungry. Team seemed friendly & attentive enough when I popped in to order & collect and appeared a popular choice as always busy.
