Great location, right near the beach. Dog friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer weather. It always, seems busy inside too, although we've never eaten here.

Food was amazing and really good value for money. I went for the special of half a lobster with chips which was £20! lovely little spot with outside and inside seating- also dog friendly! Great service and lovely people. Lived in cornwall all my life and wished I knew about this spot sooner. Highly recommend, will definitely visit again.

Nice place for a beer after a day on the beach- homemade cake lovely too. Food generally more expensive than can be had in local pubs away from the main tourist areas. Good to see challenge 21 being firmly enforced too. No Id, no drinks!!

The Unicorn has gone through a huge change in the last couple of years. It's always been a bit of an unsure place but this is amazing. The current owners have done a wonderful job with he decor (It always felt a bit 'grotty' inside). Now it is lovely and light, beautiful furnishings and just the whole feel about the place is so welcoming. The food is amazing too. Burger was spectacular. The trout was amazing. Desserts were gorgeous. The staff were super friendly and helpful and willing to chit chat with us when we dillydallied when we couldn't decide what to order. Helpful suggestions.Highly reccomend.

Had several meals at the unicorn.... And always been happy. Tonight was disappointing.... Rushed and the burgers were overcooked and all outsourced. Not sure we will come for food again. Starters and drinks were OK.... Rest was average if that.... Massive shame

We managed to book last minute while visiting Cornwall for the weekend which was fabulous. Great selection of food, and cocktails! We ate at 5pm (half hour earlier than we booked so thank you) however service was a little slow and A little overpriced. (£16 for rump + £4 for normal fries, would have been much tastier if chunky chips!) however after the long wait, the food was okay. There was a lot of the ‘juices’ on the plate which was a little off putting but I just wiped them away with the serviette. My partner said the same, along with enjoying the couple of cocktails he had. He enjoyed 2/3 of those as The surf side spritz was unbearable. Very strong indeed. Would we visit again? Possibly. Would be interesting to try the summer menu!

Just back from Mothering Sunday Lunch, just wanted to drop a review and say thanks for looking after us today over mothering Sunday lunch. It was great like always! Unfortunately I didn’t catch the waitresses name but she was exceptional, helped us in a difficult situation with my eldest kid and sorted out some macaroni cheese! And to the chefs for being so accommodating in a busy day. Totally recommend everyone to go, and some good vegan options also.

Popped in as we were staying close by for the night and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Food was lovely, staff were really welcoming and made my partners impromptu birthday meal feel really special. Thank you! We will be back 😊

Nice bar, great drinks l. Sadly seemed the night we went food was slow to turn up and missing orders. Admittedly wasn't on bill either but not the point in my eyes. Nice dog friendly place, recon with some management turn around this place will be the to go to place

Came to Porthtowan for the weekend as a group of 5 and had a high hopes as this place was recommended to us. My partner ordered a rare steak and was sarcastically treated by the blonde manager when we gently asked for it to be redone, who gave the impression it was down to personal taste - it just wasn’t a rare steak. We felt quite patronised. The lobster was chewy and overdone and when we told the waiter, he didn’t care. A shame when the main itself was £45+. A real shame. Go to the Blue Bar down the street - half the price and triple the quality and the service was incredible.
