Wheel House Restaurant in Cornwall

Visited Megavissy and had our lunch here. Was lovely and food was great. Would happily go back 😀

We recently visited Mevagissy.This restaurant was our favourite. We had one meal and two breakfast meals. All were excellent.The staff were lovely and efficient. They also made our dog welcome. We shall definitely visit again if in the area.

Update: From 2 to 3 stars as the breakfast and staffs at the restaurant + for checking out were great!This review (for the hotel only) may sound unfair but it's as truthful as it can get...Let's start with the good...The view is really fantastic where the room faces the harbour and it's a pretty decent size and comfy room.Next...the not so good... Parking was not ideal. There were 2 (TWO) parking lots right outside the hotel where u can park for 24 hours at 6£ which is decent rate but only 2 lots? I was kinda prepared for the parking so no much complaints... And thus we parked at one which is a 4min walk at the end of the harbour.As there was no one there to guide us for the check in (kinda self check in which was alright for us), we couldn't even find someone to speak to pertaining to the parking.And as we walked up to our room via the narrow walkway and stairs, we reached our room and it took me Abt 5min to get into my room due to the key or lock having an issue (For room 2: you can't turn the key all the way to one side).Toilet was tiny which was fine but the toilet bowl is situated in a weird corner where u literally have to sit sideways.I may be too fussy but there were leftover bottle of shampoo and shower gels used that were placed on top of the heater as well. I understand it is definitely unintentional but still... U wouldn't hope to see something like that.Perhaps it's Mevagissey... but across England, I wouldn't call 110£ for a night stay in such a hotel good value as well.Overall, it's more like a 5 out of 10 but it's just hard for me to round it up to give a 3/5 stars.

Dog friendly, welcoming with dogs welcome signs at windows. Nice outdoor area. Vegan pizza which is ace. Prices are a bit steep on some things though, like Rowes pasty n chips for £12.50. Really?

Lovely room with amazing harbour views, felt totally spoilt, super friendly staff who all made me feel very welcome - and great breakfast (excellent veggie sausages!) can’t wait to come back again, thank you so much for your great hospitality :-)

We had breakfast overlooking Mevagissey harbour. Full English was the usual affair of sausage, bacon, mushroom, beans, tomato, fried bread (or toast) egg. Their poached egg was excellent. Fried bread is quite rare these days and was a treat (although probably terribly bad for you!). Service was good and the price reasonable. Location is charming.

What a little gem! Helen as your host is wonderful and went out of her way to find us croissants in the morning for breakfast as we had given up bread for lent - so thoughtful and kind. Room 3 (Helen’s favourite!) is perfectly located to view the harbour being right on the quay front - we slept with the curtains and windows open so we could see the tide and fishing boats coming in and out of the harbour - so relaxing. Windows had lots of seagull poo on (it had been brought in by the winds in a certain direction!) so we did clean the lower one ourselves so we could enjoy the view more! Gorgeous comfy bed and lovely shower, fluffy towels and toiletries to hand. Hot chocolate and yummy biscuits (Oaties and shortbread) together with teas and coffees in the room. 2 entrances to come in depending on how you wanted to get to your room from a side street or through the front door and then a quirky walk up and down the internal stairs, and a sumptuous Cornish breakfast. Restaurant stayed open till 2pm for lunch but wasn’t open in the evening as low season but Helen directed us to the excellent Sharksfin on the harbour.Breakfast was fantastic and obviously good as lots of locals and tradesmen were in for it. Will be coming back again as location, service and comfort just spot on. A ‘must’ stay place if you are visiting Mevagissey

My wife and I had a room booked which was confirmed in an email. Fortunately, I phoned up, two weeks before to book a table in the restaurant for the evening of our arrival, the hotel had no record of our booking even though I had a confirmation that came from their email address.I spoke to Chris who blamed a software problem and unfortunately they were now fully booked.Apart from recommending a few local hotels, there was nothing they were prepared to do to help. I have never stayed at the wheelhouse so I cannot comment on the quality of food or accommodation, but I am afraid they failed on the most important, basic thing. Hotels must never mess up on bookings. If you can't trust the software that takes your booking , there can be no customer confidence booking online. Really big issue! What would they have done if we just turned up on the day with our reservation confirmation? Turf us out onto the street?

Lovely bar/restaurant right on the harbour with great views. Good menu choices although on Sunday it is just roasts. Good service and competitively priced. Recommended
