Having read online that the Cat and Custard was one of the best fish and chip restaurants in the Tenterden area, we went there on Friday April 22. The fish and chips were good but the price on the menu is £16.50 which is pretty steep for a draughty and uncomfortable restaurant whereas the price on the online menu is £12.50 which will indicate that the owners neglect aspects of their business that are readily adjusted with a little thought which would include having a door person who would greet the many customers and wish them a pleasant evening and thanking them for their visit. We have had a more friendly visit to the most humble chippy in the town The waitresses, who seem to be overworked, have no time to converse with customers which would mean that the business is understaffed and this needs redress. Will we return? NO

Had a lovely Mother’s Day meal here today, food was great and staff very attentive and friendly. The pub itself is cosy and welcoming. We didn’t use the pizza terrace out the back but it looks brilliant, so we plan to return.

Loved the cozy and warm Swiss Chalet at the back of the pub ... however, only pizza and the raclette served in there. Wish the main pub menu could be eaten in there as well or even just the desserts menu. Will be back though as I want to see the view in the daytime.

Booked C& C for birthday celebration after seeing the menu online and got to venue to find a very limited menu and told that they had no chef!Waitress told us that they did not have soup and the steak was the best option. Alarm bells ringing, it was obvious that they had nobody in the kitchen who could cook. The place was being ran by very young girls who were put in a terrible position by the non existent management. They should of called us and told us the situation rather than hope we would turn up and accept that they had no chef or food available. We left the place without eating and sort a restaurant in Tetbury that fully accommodated us.

We stayed overnight in the small double on the top floor, (elmleaze?) lovely warm welcome. Slept soundly and breakfast was filling and good quality.

Went for Sunday lunch, but the service seemed chaotic. We noticed lots of errors with customers not getting parts of their meal as described on the menu. Condiments in short supply too. My wife didn't get custard with her dessert - ironic really!

Beautiful location and tasty home cooked food and friendly service. This was a winter visit with an open fire but it would be great in the summer too. Highly recommend the pies. We visited again today and had wood fired pizzas which were perfecto!

Wow, what a fantastic place. We stayed one night and we will 100% be back. It's close to the Arboretum. Ample car parking at the rear. The room was fantastic, cosy and quiet. We choose to have our evening meal there and it was perfect. The Shin of Beef was perfect. The breakfast the next day was spot on. Great WiFi too.Absolutely faultless.

What a lovely place, we had dinner and stayed the night before visiting Westonbirt arboretum today. Our room was splendid in the loft area, wonderful with a super bathroom. Dinner excellent with a good bottle of wine, breakfast delicious and friendly staff. A full 5 Stars 👍👍
