Had the most wonderful relaxing time there with our dog. Jonathan was most helpful and did so much to make our stay comfortable. Rooms are super comfortable, the molton brown toiletries were a lovely touch. Cannot praise the staff enough, such lovely people.Easily the best breakfast we've ever had, hash brown was amazing. We had dinner one evening and it was delicious.Bella was just perfect, best dog.

Didn't stay but came here for the day down from Birmingham.Found this lovely looking pub on our way past and decided to head back later with my daughter. The place looks incredible, the staff couldn't be lovelier and the Steak pie was out of this world.I'll happily drive the two hour round trip to visit again.Look forward to coming back. Thanks guys

Having only lived near the Red Lion for just under a year I have only managed to visit for food a handful of times. Having recently lost my mum we were in no doubt that the Red Lion was a great place to hold the wake….. Once Again we were NEVER disappointed. The staff are always so kind and friendly. Lisa and Lesca were exceptionally nice and helpful, also as a dog lover it’s a dog friendly Pub so I was able to take my Cockapoo with me to the Wake. It’s also great to see my dog making new friends and she came away tired so I knew she had a great time. The food is always outstanding and very reasonably priced. I can honestly say that visiting this wonderful welcoming Pub, you are made feel at ease and well looked after. I look forward to visiting again soon and to anyone reading this who is considering visiting, please just book and you won’t be disappointed. Chris

Lovely ambience inside. Made to feel very welcome. Service was very good. Beer was excellent. Lunch time meal was good. My pie very meaty. Only negative is that we felt prices for meals were £2 to £3 more than their value. Enjoyed our visit.

Four of us had Sunday lunch here (accompanied by our dog) and had a lovely time. The food was very good and well presented and the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Nice beer too and good value all round. I liked the decor too. It was too cold to sit outside when we visited but there was a pleasant area to do so under warmer conditions for a pre or post meal drink. Thanks to all the staff for a very pleasant experience.

I’ve lived in the village for around 12 years and The Red Lion still remains the best pub around! Just had a fantastic steak followed by the best treacle tart I’ve ever had in my life! Staff have always been and remain the most friendliest around.

My two friends and I normally come to Long Compton every two or three months on a Saturday for a meeting in the village. For the last five years (apart from lockdown) we have come to the Red Lion at lunchtime for a couple of pints of excellent Hooky. The pub has always been very busy in the past with a gaggle of locals always around the bar and dogs laying on the floor. Today however there was a sign on the door that stated that due to staff shortages only pub residents and those who have reserved tables would be served. Whilst we understood that serving food would be difficult with fewer staff we only wanted three beers and so decided to go in. We were shocked, the pub was all but empty. The lady standing behind the bar asked if we had reserved a table, when we said hadn't but that we only wanted three pints which we were quite happy to stand and drink and not take up the empty tables we were told that we couldn't as we hadn't reserved a table and were asked to leave. Something very strange going on here.

Excellent service, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Went with four friends who finished all their meal, so I can assume they enjoyed their lunch. My sweet potato curry was delicious. Slice of bread served with soup wasn't totally defrosted, but a small thing. Thank you, all.

Food was 100% delicious. Staff were super friendly and helpful, best service I’ve had somewhere in a while! We didn’t book and were looked after beautifully until a table came available! Worth the wait as the food was truly scrumptious - we eat out often and this is defo one of the best places we have been in a long time!

Ancient stone Inn. Very friendly and attentive staff, rarely see this level of service. Food good, good range of wines , local ale on tap. Some road noise in the room and can hear the bar through the floor but this finishes fairly early. Found mattress hard but some may not. Completely dog friendly pub. Ample parking.
