The Chestnut Tree in Cotswold

What a shame such a lovely place but poor selection of gluten free options. One fruit scone! Come on in this day and age how hard is it to have loaf of gluten free bread, this is not a life style choice but an allergy. My husband ordered a fish finger sandwich and it was made with the cheapest fish fingers and white bread, looking around other people had lovely fresh bread. One scone, fish finger sandwich with chips and two cups of tea £18. I have no problem paying for good food in a beautiful location but this was mediocre at best. But a nice cup of tea.

A lovely cafe in a great location.The service, food and drinks were great for a reasonable price.The young man with dark hair was very polite and great customer service with a smile.Will definitely return.

We found a table and ordered some drinks from the shop. All drinks were served in disposable cups and plastic tumblers. I asked for a glass but was told that wasn't possible. Great location.

We stopped for a quick visit after walking around the area. We really liked the coffee and walnut cake and biscoff brownie. Quite big slices of both. The cafe was unfortunately not very full compared to the other tea rooms in the area, but had a good variety of meals also

Spoil yourself! If you reserve a table and an afternoon tea here and in advance you will not regret it. We received a great selection of veggi sandwiches and a selection of home made scones and cakes. All was prepared with so much care and 💘 love! The food was so tasty and yummy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making our trip and visit so special.

Great lunch option in Bourton-on-the-Water. We all went for a toastie and it did not disappoint - fully filled in a sour dough bread. I also got the king of all hot chocolates with all the usual and a chocolate flake to finish. Great service from the staff in a lovely atmosphere.

Cakes looked fantastic and highly calorific! The cafe also sells ice cream, slush drinks etc that you can access without entering the building.Had a frothy cappuccino. Was not very hot nor did it taste very strong. It might have tasted nicer if the waitress could have made eye contact with me. (Surely the point of having fake eyelashes is to attract more eye contact? Just saying ...)Perhaps she was stressed: there is a notice outside the cafe saying they are short staffed so drinks are being served in disposable cups.Plenty of outdoor seating on the green overlooking the road / river. Indoor seating too.The Chestnut Tree is separate business to Chestnut Bed and Breakfast.

Brilliant food, the chips were fried to perfection and the gammon steak was very good and the portion sizes were very large especially the children's meal. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The children's meal also comes wih a (very large) scoop of Cotswolds ice cream. Overall the food was very good.

Our visit to the Cotswolds would not seem right without some tea and scones. We found a place in Bourton-on-the-Water High Road and it looked really nice!So the service I have to say needs a bit of looking into as the staff were overwhelmed with the customers and not enough staff to help, we were forewarned there was a 30mins wait for food. I was a bit upset as they didn’t have a lot of the iced coffees (no ice to make them).The food actually came quicker then expected and it did look really good especially the scones! The sandwich I must say wasn’t anything special, a bit bland if I’m honest but the scones were simply AMAZING!! Soft, fluffy and very buttery! Would definitely go back for the scones.

Great food and friendly service at competitive prices. We had the daily special of Soup withCroutons and Sour Dough bread and a Ham salad sandwich on Grain bread for £6.95. The bread was really fresh and the Ham very good quality.Also had a toasted tea cake, which was very good. The selection of cakes was mouth watering and ending up getting a Cinnamon Twirl and Chocolate cake to take away. Both were excellent and worth the calories. :-))
