The Horse and Groom in Cotswold

We stayed here on our hiking trip through The Cotswolds and found it a wonderful place. The food was excellent, both at dinner and breakfast (the eggs Benedict was the best according to my comparative study the past days!) and the people managing the pub were super nice. The room we were in was spacious and tidy. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place to stay and eat, and also great pub atmosphere! Better for those who have a car but taxi service is plentiful here and the town of Moreton-in-Marsh is just down the hill a bit. Shawn makes an amazing cappuccino!! We'll be back!! Love you guys!! ♥️

Nice pub and lovely beer garden...shame about the service !Arrived at pub, beautiful beer garden at the rear...went into pub to order gin and tonic...told that there was no ice...bar staff seemed disorganised and clueless with poor interpersonal skills...almost disinterested...Pizza oven outside was supposedly open for pizzas, but by 7pm still no sign of any food...beer garden slowly emptied as people left...food menu was seriously expensive...£17 for Fish and Chips !Nice pub and lovely beer garden in lovely location but just so much wasted potential !

Lovely pub with gardens that have a wonderful view. Why 3 stars. Got charged a service charge of over £4 for ordering 1 round of drinks!! Unfortunately I didn't notice the charge on the receipt until after we had left. Completely unnecessary to add when we only stopped for a drink and I'm afraid it will discourage me from wanting to return.

The worst service in England! We came with 5 happy and excited girls to celebrate our friend’s marriage and Matt the bartender was so rude! He talked down to us, told us to be quiet, was surprised we asked for a bottle of wine and was overall grumpy, disrespectful and arrogant. We felt so unwelcomed (in an empty pub!), we left without finishing the wine. Shame on you!

Stayed here Easter 2022. First thing to say is the food was wonderful. We had steak and salmon and to say it was PERFECT would be an understatement 😋.The room was spacious neat clean, but we were over the kitchen and could hear the extractor fan rumble, May not bother eveyone my husband just turned up the TV but I'm bit fussy about noise!The owners took over 9 months ago and have done wonders in the garden, which will open this week and has a pizza oven. It looks great and will be smashing place to eat that wonderful food.Breakfast was exceptional too 😋- and pics are from a local walk - ace location for walkers - with Batsford arboretum, Cotswold falconry centre and few other houses to visit and Moreton in Marsh all within 2 miles.Keep on doing what you are doing guys service was great 😊

We really enjoyed our pizzas this evening. Freshly cooked in the outside pizza oven and the service was great. We ate outside in a cosy hut (with heater) with lovely views of the Cotswolds countryside. Would recommend.

Stopped for lunch on spec today and was happy to find the pub not too busy on a Saturday at 2:00pm.We ordered burgers, mine supposedly being a "beef brisket" burger and as my wife is vegetarian, she ordered the "plant based burger".Well what a disappointment!The burgers were pretty much supermarket bought quality and very plain.My wife's burger was listed on the menu to come with "slaw", but it was missing. When we enquired, we were informed that it was left out as it has mayonnaise as an ingredient and that that is not vegan. We didn't order a vegan burger. There was no offer for us to have the "slaw" if we wanted it and the attitude of the table staff indicated that we shouldn't ask!When the bill arrived there was no adjustment to the amount charged or offer for this, due to the missing element in what was served. Also they had the cheek to add a service charge! Since when in the UK has a service charge been added by default?£51 for a mediocre lunch and three drinks!!! We just wanted to leave by then, so just paid and left.I don't think we will be back in a hurry even though we are reasonably local. It's a shame as we like to eat out and also to meet friends for dinner on a regular basis. We certainly won't be visiting the Horse and Groom unless it changes hands.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. We had booked as well.Sadly the food was in our opinion reheated. 3 small rubbery roast potatoes, a thick pork chop, small amount vegetables and warm gravy. Definitely not woth £19.
