Great food, beer and nice mix up for casual fare. Outdoor seating is really nice.

My partner and I stayed at the Village Pub around Valentine's Day as it was the last room available and unfortunately Barnsley House was fully booked.Whilst the decor of the room was very cosy, it wasn't anything special for the price and just was not functional for our short stay. The bed was not comfortable and it was very difficult to sleep as our room was facing the road and we could hear cars speeding by (I would highly recommend if you're sensitive to noise to bring ear plugs). The bathroom was really spacious and I liked that it was stocked with Ren products. When trying to sleep, we also had to deal with the tv making noises throughout the night and a lot of light getting into our room due to no curtains and the blinds not being fully secure. The hotel was understanding and dropped the price of our stay for all these issues but for the price we were left paying it was not a 5* experience. Found it odd that we never had breakfast at the Village Pub but instead had to walk across to the hotel - this was communicated on our first day but not on the other days that we stayed. The hotel did try to find us another room in the area and was welcoming and I've provided 1 star for this. Also we really enjoyed the private cinema and massages at the Barnsley House. The facilities at the hotel were good. I'd visit the hotel again but probably wouldn't stay in the Village Pub.

What a wonderful pub. From the moment we stepped in we felt so welcome by the man behind the bar. Place was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. Real character. Service was fantastic by the women that served us all so friendly and helpful particularly with my husbands intolerances and even had gluten free bread complimentary. Food was fantastic great portions and really tasty. Really good choices even at lunch time. Excellent soft drinks menu as well as alcoholic. Would definitely go out of our way to return and recommend to family and friends. Thank you.

The food was top-notch, as was the friendly and welcoming service. The staff really made a fuss of our dog, Reggie, too and we all had a lovely time, celebrating my wife's birthday. This is the standard all country pubs should aspire to.

Overpriced and disappointingVisited here recently for a special meal out for my father’s birthday. He lived above the pub many years ago as a student and we decided to return for a special occasion and relive the fond memories of his time there many decades later.Despite our high hopes and excitement, sadly The Village Pub did not live up to them at all and we left very disappointed with our visit. The majority of the dishes served were not of a very high standard and represented very poor value for money. The crab cocktail starter (£12) was almost all lettuce and mayonnaise and needed forensic examination to find any crab, the cheese soufflé (£10) lacked any flavour and was overcooked, the menu topping lamb chop (£26) was mostly gristle and bone and the dauphinoise potato to accompany it was just a small square of stacked sliced potato almost devoid of any cheese or cream.Aside from this, the cutlery provided for all courses included old-fashioned bone handled knives that were un-serrated and entirely blunt. At this price point, there is a suggestion that the dishes are prepared to a high standard. Unfortunately they have have set them up for failure by then under-delivering on this expectation.During our time there we saw several tables around had troubles too with mistakes and errors requiring apologies. One table was told the Rosé wine they had chosen had only just been delivered (8:15pm) and was not chilled. Another table was served wine by the glass despite having requested it by bottle. The same sable asked the waitress if the flat-iron steak on the menu was served with vegetables. The waitress did not know and advised them that she would have to ask the chef in order to find out. 10 minutes after having taken their order the waitress then returned as she had forgotten (having taken their order) if the table had ordered starters or not. These are basic errors that any venue should not be making, let alone a venue that sets itself up as, and prices itself as a premium venue. The only saving grace was our waitress Liv. What a marvel she was! Polite, friendly, charming and extremely helpful indeed. Nothing we asked of her seemed to phase her at all. She was really on the ball and efficient with service but we didn’t feel hurried by her at all. She deserves 5 stars!!

Fantastic pub, great staff and cheese soufflé is amazing - made with fresh spinach from the garden at Barnsely house! Salmon was also amazing 👍🏼

Cosy little village pub with a decent restaurant and a good selection of beers on tap. Dog friendly pub!

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was room one, and it was comfortable attractive and clean. Two strokes against this particular room: the kitchen fans woke my husband up early in the mornings (it didn't wake me) and the view is over the car park. But it's efficient and friendly with excellent food.

Fantastic experience here! Our party of 12 had a delicious three course dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive and it was a wonderful evening. I had the absolute best superfood salad I have ever tasted! Will definitely be back.

Loved the vibe at this pub. Only came for drinks but were treated so well by the staff. The service was so friendly, attentive and professional and we felt like nothing would have been of any trouble. The food dishes looked great that were being served next door so no doubt a meal would be excellent. The food menu looked varied and tasty. The ambience outside was great with music playing and the lights against the beautiful architecture of pub. All in all a great spot for a drink or food.
