Was only doing a tip run and popped in for a quick bite. What a surprise to find a full carvery on, which was fantastic I could not fault it. Great price, great staff. Definitely be back.

Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed ,the service on entry was very poor ,everyone had to wait till manager was off the phone to know which table the three of us had booked ,We had a young waiter who didn’t know what Prosecco was and when it did come I think it was stored near an oven as was warmer than the meal ,The carvery was ok all the chef talked about was how tired he was ,the food was mediocre and only just warm , but edible . After we had main corse we decided on a sweet very straight forward you would think ,,,after asking twice if we could order ,the waiter took the order after 25 mins and being told it would take 3 more minutes after 15 minutes and seeing other people getting served after us we decided to cancel the sweet, (Good job I didn’t order coffee) I then went to pay the bill mentioned about cancelling the sweet but waitress really didn’t care oh well ! Won’t be going back there a lot more superior places in Sidmouth with far better service and value ….. New management me thinks .. Avoid so not disappointed.

To start I'll say most of the staff did a fantastic job. We had a later table booked on mothering Sunday, it was extremely busy. We had to wait around 30 mins for our booked table, drinks were slow and even served wrong. These were the only faults, in all though the food was amazing, the carvery is one of the best, anywhere, the staff were friendly and tried to deal with the situation the best they could. Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed our visit, three meats on offer from which you choose two that is carved for you and then a selection of veg etc that you serve yourself subject to how much you think you can fit onto your plate! Sadly for me the roast was so good I didn't have enough room for the selection of puddings available on top of the beers we had. Maybe next time....

When I think of old fashioned pub grub, I think of a warm welcome, a quality meal, value for money and a good sized hearty portion.Let me tell you that the Bowd Inn delivered on all counts. The mid-week carvery deal is definitely the way to go. I have no hesitation in recommending The Bowd.I would recommend booking a table beforehand. It gets quite busy with "mature diners".

Plenty of parking round the back, small children's play area with plenty of seating outside under umbrellas or a large gazebo at the side. Not a huge choice of food as mainly is a carvery. Which had plenty of choice.Food was overall nice though the burger a bit gristley and we were served quickly.Took some time to pay.

The staff looked after us very well. Dog friendly, comfortable and spacious. Delicious Carvery. Choice of 2 from 3 meats. Eaten here 2x whilst away this week, not disappointed.
