Hungry Horse - Farmhouse in East Devon

Lots of money spent but same old Farmhouse. It is what it is. Food is OK but nothing special. Same limited choice of ales. Hit and miss service. Loads of dirty glasses on the bar as usual. Shame Weatherspoons didn't buy it. Won't be rushing back.

Still looks the same inside, just a lick of paint. Outside looks so much better! Bar staff were amazing, can’t say the same for the table service. We ordered food, used to be quick, we waited an hour. Then our plates were still on the table an hour later after we ate One of the waitresses was outside for an hour sat at a table talking to friends! It remains cheap and cheerful but we know what to expect next time…

Amazing food, extremely kind staff, everything I’ve expected from a decent pub!

Overall was a nice visit.. Few things a bit disappointing but hoping my next visit will be a bit better! The menu is amazing and looking forward to trying more food there but me and my partner ordered drinks on the app where they only delivered his and completely forgot about mine until i went up to ask. & i ordered steak rare, and it came medium to well done. The food was still nice and the sound of the menu excites me so for that reason i will be returning and hope to give another star next time.

Had a lovely meal at the farm house. Would definitely recommend. Daisy was very helpful and friendly. Looking forward to returning. Thanks again

Really disappointed with the lack of customer service. Booked a table for dinner tonight at 6.30 and have arrived to find the pub closed. I can appreciate things happen but having my details and telephone number I cannot understand why there wasn't a phone call to booked tables to save us wasting time getting here. Am not local so can't just shrug shoulders and cook tonight - I have to now find somewhere else to eat at 6.30 on a Saturday night. Thanks a lot.Response to owners request for more details as I can't see a reply button.Called Friday night to see if there was space which their wasn't. Booked table for Saturday night for 6.30. The girl checked my number as she'd made a mistake and sorted it. Other than that we arrived on the Saturday to find the find signs on the door saying closed from 6.30 due to unforseen circumstances. I understand the pub may have had to close but my issue is with regards to not letting people know so they didn't arrive for their dinner on a Saturday night - particularly when you take people's numbers when booking. Doesn't take long to send out messages or call to say we have cancel booking before sending staff home etc. As there were still some lights on there were clearly people still sorting things out inside.

Loads of variety, wines fresh food meat vegetables, worth a look

Really lovely experience. The food was great, good price fantastic for everyone and the service is so friendly. The gentleman serving our food, Daniel, had exceptional customer service and could not do enough. Would definitely recommend.

Long waiting time for food, maybe it was because we have just come out of lockdown & the staff are still getting used to things. I had a Chicken New Yorker & it was just OK, for some reason the chicken breasts from Green Kings pubs always seem dry. I've tried food from many of them up & down the country & they all seem the same 😕

Decent food, decent selection of beers and wine, nice enough cocktails. The menus were dirty and sticky and the cloths used to wipe the tables could do with being cleaner. All in all it's what you'd expect from an average pub. Very friendly barman though (the one with a beard).
