Mash and Barrel in East Devon

Soooo to be honest I was not expecting a good service or food after reading reviews, but after eating fast food for 4 days (most restaurants are shut due to it not being busy season) I needed proper food even if it was going to be bad. BUT it was awesome. We were seated straight away, our order was taken maybe 5 minutes after being seated, our drinks came maybe 4 minutes after that. Our food came after about 10/15 minutes after that. Our food was hot and lovely. I had the rib eye steak, my husband the mixed grill, my children had hunters chicken, hotdog and the little people bangers. There were no issues the staff was lovely and really prompt. I'd definitely go again

Me and the wife went here last night was seated straight away but then it was almost empty order taken and drinks turn up starters arrived no problems yet eventually main meal arrives after we had eaten we thought we would have pudding first problem was getting someone to bring the menu never mind taking the order when we eventually are served and ordered we waited another 20 minutes or so and the puddings turned up not only the wrong ones but cold as well if this is how they perform when empty hate to be in there when busy won't be bothering going in there again I gave it a one star for the young lad who tried to sort out our experience here

Had breakfast here and it was One of the worst meals I had ever eaten. 8 of us went away and had breakfast and were all very disappointed. It had taken over 40 minutes to get the food and when it turned up it was stone cold and it was like they took the bacon out and didn't even cook it. The scrambled eggs were like water with zero taste too. Sausages were like 2 little party sausages and this was all for £12 per breakfast. Absolutely appalling and would certainly avoid it at Devon cliffs.

There is little to find decent about the main site restaurant.Outdoor bar staff hide in a shed and refuse to serve even when told by the boss to do so. In fact, the exact words, were "I don't care I'll just quit" (Charlotte).Tom (inside) was much more helpful and seemed to be doing everything whilst 3 or 4 clueless colleagues sniggered away.Dirty.Poor quality of food which was cold when it came out.Decent enough view and didn't seem overcrowded or even close to go capacity, yet they struggled to cope.South Beach Cafe is much better but staggeringly expensive.Do yourself a favour and drive off site 30 yards to the Clinton Arms. Amazing value (approximately a third of the cost!!) and a new playground for kids.

Went into the bar for a bite to eat. Wasn’t expecting much but it smashed my already low expectations. The staff are rude, clearly don’t want to be there and make sure you know. Food came out, was awful. Hash browns on the burger were black where they had clearly been cooked in a filthy environment. kids pizza were garbage. 5 meals, 3 were barely touched. Staff couldn’t care less, just fetched the bill over. I’d genuinely rather eat the sand on the beach. Avoid this place at all costs.

Came here at 19:15 got seated immediately and a nice waiter came over and got out orders. 5 minutes later she arrives with our drinks. A whole hour later at 20:25 we ask out waiter how long it was which she replied with it's the next minute. 10 minutes later our food comes over. The orders are slightly messed up and my sister finds a fly actually physically inside her chip. Our waiter comes over and we report it to her and she asks whether we would want any other food instead and my sister says no. Out waiter reports it to the kitchen and after another 15 minutes we finally get the bill. We leave unsatisfied and disappointed.Our waiter was the best part of it all0/10 dont come here. Instead get a Papa Jhons, Burger king, or fish and chips from the fast food downstairs since they actually provide good food at a good amount of time within ordering.

Firstly if you require a reservation the Haven app is required. You will need to set up an account for the Mash and Barrel. Once this stage completed you will be able to book depending on availability.Main entrance is located up the escalator (toilets located here) in the upper floor of the amusement complex.This place is massive, more of a canteen feeling then restaurant but floor staff deal with no concern. Do be a little patient when waiting for food this is a busy kitchen and the staff are non stop. All digital when ordering, waiting staff will take orders.Food - x2 kids, x2 Adults. No issues at all with food. Drinks I would just say more liquid then ice and also give then a stir 👍👌.Will visit again. Only reason not for 5 stars is the canteen in and out feeling.

Table service virtually none existent. Two waiters taking orders for approx 50 tables outdoors. It took repeated trips to the bar to remind them that we were keen to place a drinks order.After the order was finally placed for cocktails and soft drinks, the bar subsequently lost the order. A visit to the bar itself was required to repeat back the order again.To put the saga into context, a single round of drinks (3 cocktails and a Coca Cola costing £27) took 1hr from the point we started trying to gain the waiters attention to the point we actually had drinks placed at our table.Not enough staff and the junior staff are not experienced enough. Difficult to conclude anything other than management of this facility being inadequate. Places like Mash and Barrel can get away with terrible customer service because they have a captive audience. Where else can I go in the area for a drink with friends? They need to create some real competition within the caravan park to drive the standards you’d expect for the money you pay here.

Food was alright, drinks very expensive. Can't complain. Staff were superb. The guy who seated us was excellent. Robbie, our server, was friendly & helpful. All staff seemed on top of what they were doing.
