Tries silly games to get you to stay and buy a drink. Definitely playing games with billing. Be careful.

Never had any problems here. Always enjoyed the food

Disappointed with the food quality tonight. Dry chicken in both chicken dishes and poor quality thin curry sauce.

I have been driving past the place for years, meaning to give it a try (but it is a long way from where I live in Plymouth), Finally went there yesterday. The place is a pub with a bar and in the back room is the Chinese restaurant. The decor is a bit old, but the staff make up for it by being very polite, friendly and helpful. The food is very good, but not the best I ever had hence only 4 stars. I would have given 4.5 if I could have. There is a pool table which was fun to use after the meal. If you like Chinese food and a relaxed atmosphere, give this place a try.

Tried the "all you can eat, cooked to order" menu, fantastic range of dishes, delicious. Would recommend a visit.

Went for a takeaway and found the restaurant to be fairly quiet.Easy to park with huge Pub car park, with ample quiet space at the back to eat your takeaway if you want.Good hygiene rules in place with wipes freely available and social distancing encouraged.Food was very good.

After being tempted by a post online about the infinity buffet I decided to treat a close friend to dinner on Saturday night.. Luckily we both have a sense of humour & are still friends! After being shown to a dingy dining area with no ambience apart from some warbling background music, we tackled the menu..Out of the 3 starters we had, Crispy Duck rolls, Sticky Spare Ribs & Spring Rolls.. The Duck was the most edible. The ribs were definitely more rib than meat & the spring rolls were surprisingly hot & kept getting hotter.. Maybe Microwaved? For mains we had Chinese Chicken Curry tasted speciously like one I’ve had at home , Hong Kong Pork battered in every way you can imagine, Crispy ( Tooth breaking), Singapore Noodles the best dish, but by this time the damage was done. For £45 I expected better food & even the candles to be lit..As I said we could both laugh about it but left feeling disappointed & won’t be returning again.

First time I’ve been to The Golden Pond but it won’t be the last. I’ve driven past it loads of times and to be honest it does look like it could do with lick of paint outside but seeing as I’m going inside to eat it’s not an issue. I only really mentioned it so it doesn’t put you off and you miss out on this hidden gem.Very friendly staff. We had the buffet for £16.50, plus we went on a Eat Out to Help Out day getting a tenner off each of our meals. I think you normally serve yourself but during the pandemic they give you a menu to choose from and cook it fresh.Every dish was spot on absolutely gorgeous, just typing this review is making me hungry 😋It was a very busy and there was a little wait between courses but you’ll need that wait to let the starters go down and we had 2 lots of starters😋 But do not underestimate the main course. I was stuffed when I came out of there.Would have been about £20 each person which is a great price for the amount and quality of food we had. But with Boris’s discount it was just over 40 quid for 4 people!!!! Will definitely be going back for more even at full price.

Always wonderful food! Amazing service. Very attentive and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble when I brought my 3 year old and he made a mess... More than happy to accommodate us. I have a specific allergy, everything was properly labeled had no problems. Really happy and will be going again.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. Food was very tasty and there was a good selection of dishes at an excellent price. Eating in on a Friday was only £16.99 person and we could choose as many dishes as we liked. Good social distancing between tablets too.
